Finished Pants Project One
The Christmas 2015 Cryllic Streetzblog shirts made it from NY to HI today (7/27/16). The same day I completed the Seersucker Pants Project.
Above is the front of the new shirts and the right side completed pants leg.
The pants started off as $130 Suit pants on sale at Kohl’s for $50. They now have 2 overlapping layers, Black Stripes on both sides with the right side a bit more tricked out with the grey design. Also, cuffed them and took in the inseam. Quite a project!
Here is the right leg. Similar to the left leg, just missing the grey acruements.
What I call my mood board for the next project. That’s just page one, there are an additional 5 pages of other pictures and influences I plan to use. At the moment, I’m putting together the basic portion of the pants. Later on comes the fun embellishing portion. I tend to let my brain cruise. Then burst into action as I make them into something completly new!
In just one day, I cut out a pattern using an older pair of pants. I made 4 legs, only needed 2 LOL. And I have 4 flat pocket portions. Did them with paper first, pinned em’ then cut out the black linen blend. So far, this project is moving quick!
Front and back legs, All cut up and ready to sew.
Goal of the new black linen pants to be finished is Wednesday August 24, 2016. I want to wear them to the Cubs game in Chicago on Friday September 2nd. So far, so good.
See you on the Streetz!
Public School Update-June 2016
Public School NY/PSNY hit the runway on Tuesday June 7th with a combined Male/Female Spring 2017 RTW show. Not only did they show off their new creations, but both Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne wore the upcoming Public School x Air Jordan Low Swooshless kicks.
The low-cut sneaks have a high-end pebble leather upper, a white midsole, yellow sole and the color for the Olympics 2016-GOLD in the stitching, outsole and Nike Air Tongue Tag. No matter what they look like, I guarantee you they will sell quickly, most likely on the PSNY website later in 2016.
The Runway show had some nice mixtures of textures and colorings. Utilizing the iconic Black,White and Grey color scheme. Adding in some Forest Green and Beige. And don’t miss the new high-tops coming our way in Spring 2017.
My favorite look is this WNL mesh shirt and groovy slant grooved textured cut up trousers.
Many looks have the WNL – We Need Leaders patches and wording throughout the collection.
And some nice Electric Yellow intermixed with the black, grey, white, beige, green and just a bit of blue. And did you notice the guys in the white jumpsuits with the electric rubber yellow plumbing/dishwashing gloves whacking away at the cinder blocks? Probably some sort of message they’re sending us? Or just having some Public School Fun? Maybe shop class? What do you think?
See all the looks at here at Vogue. *All Pictures courtesy of Public School and vogue.com. I missed the show in person, was at sewing school.
Here’s a sneak peak at my latest creation. So Far, I’ve spent 21 hours, surging, pinning, cutting, inseaming, deseaming, pressing, and sewing. I hope to show the process and finished piece by June 21st. If you see it on the streetz..blog on the 21st you know they’re done, if not still working on them. Whew! *One day I will look back at some of these creations and be able to finish them in half the time or better.
See you on the Streetz..this weekend at Waikiki Beach checking out the GIANT waves!
H&M x KENZO
Earlier this week, I was thinking it was just about time to hear what the new H&M Collab would be for November 2016. And Voila! Heat on the Street!
Nike Lab teams up with Balmain’s designer of the Celebs; Olivier Rousteing. This collection brings you High End Black and Gold Jackets and Pants for Men and Women. Along with 4 pairs of Football kicks. Including my favorite pair shown above. I like the Simplicity of the Style and the Gold Metallic Back Zip the best!
The whole collection is Black and Gold, Olivier’s favorite colors and the perfect Color-Way for an Olympic year!
I find it pretty amusing that most websites and bloggers are calling the shoes Football inspired. Which, YES, they are in most of the world. But even the U.S sites don’t mention that they are what people in the U.S call Soccer Kicks. I know I got in trouble 1x on YouTube for siting a movie as a Soccer movie. Almost incited an internet riot. So, they’re probably better off calling them Football compared to Soccer. And The Whole Black and Gold ensemble is entitled the “NikeLab x Olivier Rousteing: Football Nouveau” collection. I just figure, I can take the Heat on the word Soccer. I think some are gonna’ be a little confused.
But in reality, this collection will most likely be worn more at the Club then on the Pitch/Field.
This is some pretty Styling Gear. Even though the hype is only 10 days. I suspect it will fly off the net and out of the NikeLab locations.
On June 2, 2016 you can try your best to cop the Kicks and Gear Here. For now, check out the Vid starring OR himself…Hey-Where’s his A-List posse of beautiful people? Playing Football? Maybe Soccer? Probably taking a nap, getting ready for the next party. Wherever they are, it’s good to see OR in action working and the collection is Pure Fire. 🙂

50 Steps to Make a Great Shirt
Years ago, I learned the hard way, it takes lots of work to make a shirt. I personally invested 4 months, 12 sewing classes, a lot of supplies tallying up to $200+ dollars to make my own Aloha Shirt. It was very confusing, a bit frustrating, yet very satisfying to complete, but for sure did not save me any money. With the classes, supplies, fancy scissors, and time, that shirt would have retailed for $580 or more!
In this video, Swedish label ASKET shows us all how to make an Oxford shirt in 50 steps. You’ll be amazed by all of the intricacies that go into making such a standard shirt. Me, I already know what it’s like to make my own shirt. If I saw this video prior to my project, I doubt I would have tried it.
Pretty cool video. Whether you want to DIY or just see how it’s all done. This is a pretty awesome story from start to finish on making an Oxford shirt. Thank You to ASKET for letting us in on the process.
Asket uses 2.2 square meters of fabric, 97 meters of thread, 14 buttons, 43 pieces, and close to 50 people to complete the Oxford shirt. And it comes in 15 various sizes to make the project even more complex. Think about all that next time you put on your favorite Long Sleeve button down Shirt. Wow!
You can get your very own ASKET Oxford Shirt here for about $79. See you on the Streetz!
Dior Homme Run/Fall 2016
Fall 2016 brings us lots of strapped and black trousers. Some baggy, some tailored straight. This pair is tapered, tailored straight. The strapping is super-cool and very intricate. I would buy a pair right now if I could. Although, It’s toward the end of January 2015 at the moment, Fall 2016 seems like a long time to wait for a pair of pants. Sounds like it’s time for another DIY project.
The Plan of Attack for my DIY Trouser Project
Now that I’m home in HI, I’m thinking I’ll use Silver and Gold safety pins, the straps I have left over from NY and I suspect I’ll do a bit of hand sewing on them. Once they’re finished, I’ll post 1-2 pairs on this blog. If anyone knows where I can get some flo-orange straps, LMK. I think they would look dope on top some black suit pants. See you on the Streetz! This week it’s the amazing NFL Pro Bowl Beach Party and of course the game. If You’re in town, it’s time to get out your (In this order) Best kicks, suntan lotion, 3/4 length shorts and your favorite teams jersey. Feel free to email, text or stop by any of the festivities Friday thru Sunday and say Aloha.
*I also like this model’s shoes, but I doubt I will attempt to make a pair of them. Looks like Fall 2016 will be a great year for real sturdy, stylish shoes and boots.
Stampd Strapped Bomber Jackets
If you can’t wait for the strapped pants, check out these nice strapped bombers by Stampd.
Nice Pants! Fall 2016
The men’s runway shows are bringing us some pretty dope clothes for Fall 2016. In the previous blog we saw some nice jackets and pants from Dsquared2. Today we find some pretty bangin’ pants from Yohji Yamamoto and Dries Van Noten.
- The color black. There will never be a new black. Maybe slate grey, but nah, black will always rule.
- Straps: I used straps on my DIY bomber jacket, Stampd used them in 2015 on their bombers and a pair of trousers. I own a pair of chapters with a couple straps. But this is next level twisting, flipping, turning, cropping, of the black strap. Very nice!
- Layering black on black always a dope look.
- Possible skirts for the mainstream? They don’t quite look like a kilt or a skirt with the layering, so maybe this will be the year?
- And we can see the skinny and super skinny jeans of 2011-2015 finally and definitively moving towards a more bulky, comfortable silhouette. Whew!

Dries Van Noten
- Sweet Pin Stripes.
- Crisp, cool, a bit more bulky than before pin striped shorts. A must have for Fall 2016.
- Once again, The skirt that’s not a Skirt. Layering and changing up the cut could be the breakthrough?
- The layered look.
- Comfort is in. From these 2 runway shows we see just a touch of the more bulky baggier look. In some of the other shows for Fall 2016, the pants are even wider than these. Gonna be a great year for men’s clothing especially pants.

See you on the Streetz! This week, nothing too special, maybe some eating, sleeping, and resting. Before Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl.
The DIY Customized Designer Bomber Jacket
On a major mission to create gives me both pleasure and a bit of pain. Prior to going to NYC for the Holidays, I was pretty obsessed over the black Stampd bomber jacket. Checked their site every 3 days to see if it was back in stock. Then they came out with another version and I wanted it even more. But living in a warm area most of the year, I figured both jackets were nice, but a bit too pricey (Over $300) for 11 days in the cold. So I figured when I got to New York, I would just make my own.
Picture of my inspiration. The Stampd Bomber Jacket:
Friday morning I go uptown and around 10am I find a fairly inexpensive ($69.99) bomber jacket at H&M. I think it’s a bit pricey so pass on it for the morning. After a day of non-stop shopping and window shopping uptown, I end up at MSG at 5:30pm to get some Knicks vs Bulls tickets. After I walk back towards my hotel, I realize I’m near Fashion Ave. So I go to the accruement strip on the street and head into M&J Trimming. Here I have a fantastic time. On a mission to get the back portion done, I show the picture to 4 workers and they don’t really get what I’m doing. But the back was super easy to spot so I buy 2 sets of way too many dark blue strips. Then I spot the Orange striping and immediately get it, buy some skull strips just cause’ they look awesome, I spot a couple patches, get em’. Then buy some scissors, glue that says it sews for you, which it does, and just in case; a whole ton of various sized safety pins.
Pictures of many of the Goods used to customize the bomber Jacket: (Everything here is from M&J Trimming 1008 6th Ave between 37th + 38th St. Manhattan, NY).
While at M&J, I meet some really cool people and have a great time discussing our projects together. One was making a full blown Lolita dress for an Anime convention, the other was doing up a pair of jeans with fluorescent spikes. Cost for my Goods: $80.
I notice on my iPhone that the store that they shop at during Project Runway is a couple blocks away. So I head over to MOOD to see if I need anything else for the jacket. I see many tourists and a few local designers. Met a nice lady at the front who called me Sweetie. Then, bought some needles and thread, just in case I need to sew things on if the pins and glue don’t work. Didn’t need the needles and Thread. Cost of my Goods: $12.
Here is where I lose it a bit. Friday Night at 8:30pm I have all I need to make the jacket except the jacket. I head back out to H&M to buy the bomber from earlier in the day. Was so enthused I walked right by it and needed to walk back 5 blocks in the Massive Mid-Town Christmas Crowd. I get to H&M at 8:50pm, it closes at 9:00pm I cant get it to zip, so don’t buy it. Then I realize I’m on vacation and need to breath, so I head to the Deli for Salami Sandwiches and Grape soda. One of my favorite Vay-Cay treats!
Saturday I head Downtown. I typically get dropped off at Astor and work my way down to Canal. But this time I start at Spring, went down a bit then back up towards Astor. Here at 3:45pm, I spot a perfect bomber in the window of French Connection (FCUK). The entrance sign says big sale, so I’m hoping it’s on sale and it is! Regularly over $158, marked down to $109, and just for today there was an extra discount, so I got my already very nice bomber jacket that fit perfectly for a mere $65. ($65 plus $80 plus $12=$157) Plus major obsession over this project. That gives me both a thrill because it’s quite fun to do a project like this. But at the same time, I’m supposed to be relaxing, recharging and chilling in NY.
While walking in Downtown on Broadway, I check out Atrium and Kith. At Kith, I find the real Stampd Jacket in my size. I try it on and it is really nice. Feels comfortable inside and is worth the $300. Tempted to buy it, but I don’t vibe well with the workers at Kith. And if I’m not having fun shopping, no matter what it is, I won’t buy it. And I wasn’t having fun at Kith, plus I was on a mission to make my own. Here’s a picture of the Stampd jacket IRL:
Saturday night I don’t need to make the jacket because I can’t wear it on Sunday since I go out with friends and it was too cold for the bomber.
Sunday Night 1:00am – 2:30 am. I make the custom jacket. I put the orange ribbon around the sleeve instead of the dark blue, use big silver safety pins to affix it. Then I bust out the glue that sews to put on the patches (It works really well). I notice one patch is a skull, so I add in the skull ribbon on the top and use the last of the safety pins to affix it.
Let dry over night and head to breakfast at the Roosevelt Hotel and over to Dover Street market on Monday in my new custom jacket.
Cool thing I notice at DSM. In the Patricia Field section they have some pretty pricey yet very nice custom jackets that used spray paint, patches and get this…safety pins to affix some of the acruements. I’m right on trend.
Here’s a quick sampling of quotes about my jacket that I was able to wear 2x in NY and 3x in Chicago.
I like your jacket. Quote from Employee number 1 at DSMNY
I Love your jacket. Quote from Employee number 2 at DSMNY
Where did you get your jacket? Quote from co-shopper at Around the World Magazines at 148 W. 37th St. Between Broadway and 7th Ave. NY.
Dope jacket, you can Kiki here all day long. Quote from employee at Patricia Field’s at 360 Bowery. NY.
Look it’s Adam Ant, check out his coat. Quote from G-Spot when I DJ’d in Evanston, Illinois.
All in All, I would say it was a fun project to do. I think I just got a bit too obsessed with it. Like who would go all the way to New York from Hawaii to spend many hours making a jacket? Ahhh…Me. Hehehe. I was in NY to de-stress, not add any. But, I think having this project to do led me to:
Having fun meeting new people at M&J Trimming and chatting about shared interests. I felt more at home than at home, like doing something like this wasn’t so wierd. Other people were doing things like this in NY and even bigger.
It led me to MOOD, the store from Project Runway, which I never would have seen if I didn’t do this project.
Now I have tons of dark navy strips to use, glue that sews, new super sharp scissors that cost less than $12, velcro, silver and gold safety pins for future projects and some pretty cool pictures of the process of making and wearing the jacket.
A fun time wearing the jacket and hearing all of the fun compliments. Most people don’t know it was homemade. When asked about it in Illinois, I mentioned it was Designer and no one blinked.
Sense of accomplishment and confidence to explore future projects.
A good time in the Big Apple.
I leave you today with this quote from the designer Juun. J about bomber jackets from Fashion for Men Winter 2015/Spring 2016. Did you notice Obsessed By? I just caught it and I’ve read this many times before saving it for this blog posting.
See you on the Streetz!
Wiz Khalifa Live in Concert-Tuesday September 22, 2015 Neal Blaisdell Arena. Honolulu, Hawaii
I know Ya’ll got some things Ya’ll wanna be out there. Life’s a race, you gotta keep your pace. You heard..Unh. Wiz Khalifa 9/22/15
After socializing on the concourse for about an hour, we went in to the Blaisdell, found a perfect middle section seat and the concert began. Wiz sang, rapped, told us some nice words about life and danced groovingly through a fun and festive show. Complete with a band, DJ, custom backdrop and some sweet lazer lights in Blue, Green, and Red.
I had a fun night and would recommend seeing Wiz if he comes to your town. He’s very happy on stage, is genuinely appreciative of life, has a positive vibe and puts on a solid SHOW!
Dressed to Thrill and Chill
Wiz wore all white including his shirt, pants, kicks and circular Man from U.N.K.L.E inspired specs. About half way through the show he took off his shirt so we could see his many tats. He’s pretty skinny and could barely keep his pants from slipping off. Wiz definitely had fun on stage and it was cool to watch him move and groove to his tunes. The chill part was the air all up in the Blaisdell Arena. Wow! or Whoa! I left a bit light-headed and couldn’t sleep until 3:30 am. Maybe it was just the adrenaline or the antibiotics I was on.
Nice Compliments to the Crowd prior to I work Hard
This was one of my favorite in between songs talk to the crowd moment. Before singing about how hard most of us work, Wiz told us all we were WINNERS! I appreciate everyone for being here tonight. You spent your money on Gas, You spent your money on a ticket (Yes I did), You take the time to be here. You deserve to be here, You deserve to FkN Win! Don’t let anyone tell you different, you’re a WINNER. Front or back of the show, all my WINNERS all up in this B**tch.
I do for sure work hard and it was nice of him to acknowledge us. Nice to be noticed. Another time in the show he spotted many of the people all decked out in Pirates Snapbacks, Jordan Jerseys, Sexy T’s and other hot Swag in the audience. He made people feel special which was very nice of him. I think he’s really a smart guy after watching this show and man he didn’t miss a beat or a word. At least I never noticed it. Very crisp, cool, and totally on it!
Some Brand New Tunes, Power of the Performer and the End of the Show
Near the end of the evening before the finale of See You Again, Wiz played a few brand new tracks including a tune entitled No Social Media. I couldn’t believe the power of his influence on everyone. From going from almost every third person taking pictures with their phone to just 3 visible people on the floor. He persuaded almost EVERYONE to stop their electronics and just enjoy life. The words of the new tune went something like this: Don’t be on your phone, I’m starting to get upset, I don’t care about how many likes you get, you ain’t sh*T without the internet.
Me, I snap my pix quick, take a few vids so I can remember what to blog about. Other than that I like to enjoy the moment and groove to the tunes without abstractions. That’s what I believe at every show I go to. My favorite tune of the night was The Thrill (of it), the song that nabs a piece of the Empire of the Sun song Walking on a Dream. It’s just really groovy and somehow I knew almost all the words. And you can’t go wrong with See You Again. Even after hearing it all Summer long, it still sounded great in person.
The Show ended with everyone swaying their arms back and forth to See You Again, song made famous during the end portion of Furious 7. A very fun, festive, Tuesday night had by all in Honolulu, Hawaii. See you on the Streetz.
