Great Balls of Style
Rick Owens SS23 Mens EDFU Thursday June 23 2022 Palais De Tokyo Avenue Du President Wilson. Paris, France
This show is more of a spectacle like going to a play, performance art installation or a movie. The clothes are slightly secondary. And Rick has always said he likes to make clothes he would wear. I highly doubt we will see him in anything on this Runway except the large boots and bad ass oversized sunglasses. Would be pretty funny to see him in anything other than black. And Bright Green Glossy pants or flimsy, flowing fish netting, I Kinda’ doubt it. But, just like Rick is looking at darkness in the world today, all I saw was bright colors. Yet, you can skip down to the bottom of the blog for some nice black clothes and kicks! YAH!
Rick continues on looking at a reality through the eyes of doom and gloom. Last show was apocalyptic this one he is irritated about the war and trifling arguments. So, instead of bringing us more low crotch black pants, oversized Nomad shirts, we receive bright Green and purple colors to help heal the world.
The Music is dope, the setting is spectacular, and the crane that drops fire balls is the biggest hit of the entire show. It drops fire bombs 3x just like the models trip the same amount at 3x through the show. It would have been fun to be there in person just to see the fireballs dropping from the crane into the picturesque languid waters.
HIGHLIGHTS

- The exquisite setting
- Kicks: They are hard to spot, but there are some special kicks coming our way in 2023

- And YAH for the black colors on some of the clothes
LOWLIGHTS
- The flimsy flowing fish netting in red and green materials. Stuff You’d see in Ben Franklin
- The purple vest
- Bright yellow & bright pink
- And that bizarre red dress in that weird fish netting material. Yuk!
I think I was so freaked out by the bright green and chiffon reds, I missed all these blacks. Ooops, still no drop crotch pants. But Rick Owens fans will be happy to see their/our favorite color in the stores and on-line in 2023.

#Realfake time again
This is pretty funny. The internet is trying to show you how to create the $1,090 Balenciaga Defender sneaker on the cheap. They suggest that you get a bike tire and glue it to a pair of ASICS. I know from practice, its hard enough to get the sole of a Jordan to re-stick even with Gorilla or Super glue. So, good luck with this. KITH comes to Kalakaua
Waikiki, Oahu-August 20, 2021
The Iconic KITH store opened up on Friday August 20, 2021 on Oahu. Located between the Apple store and Jimmy Choo on Kalakaua Ave. I stopped by for a few quick snaps of the store. And made an ill-fated attempt to get in to the store.
For their Grand-Opening they released a KITH colored bright light blue and white Air Force1 with the Hawaiian Islands featured on the tongue. They did tickets, wristbands and general standing in line to get the kicks. Saw some of the AF1’s re-selling for $700-$900.
The Store has clothes and shoes on the main road and a KITH treats shop a bit inside The Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center.
If you got lucky enough to purchase a pair of the limited release AF1. Congrats! Maybe I’ll see you down there one day in a few weeks or months. See you on the Streetz…blog!
Mail Call
2021 is the year of the Jordan 1 and any kind of Dunk you can obtain. Cutting through the clutter of everything else are these. The USPS Priority Mail shipping box themed Air Force 1’s. I see this shoe floating in and out of my various social and web feeds and still dont know if it’s a real drop or not. But, it’s a Friday. So on Fun Time Friday for April 9, 2021. Lets have a look-see at these interesting kicks.
I do like the boxes that they are influenced by. You can stuff as much things as you like for one low price.The shoes like the boxes are white red and blue. The back of the show is probably the most interesting, which includes an area to sharpie up the “From” section. I suspect you could put your own name, Jordan would look dope or something even more expletive could get you some compliments or condemnations.
Would be kinda cool if they gave away some of these to Postal workers. Their standard show seems to be the All black New Balance Bland.

Boogie Pops into Theaters
Basketball Movie-Boogie in Theaters Friday March 5
We couldn’t be named the Streetzblog without letting ya’ll know about a new movie coming soon to a Theatre near you. Boogie is written + directed by Eddie Huang. The same Eddie that brought us Fresh Off the Boat, the Baohaus Restaurant in NYC and Huangs World. You can probably still see some of Huangs World on Vice. If you get a chance to see it, check out the show where they are in NYC shopping for retro T’s-his friend has a warehouse FULL. Somebody I’d like to meet one day. And there’s a quick cameo of the Public School duo at the Barbershop.
I saw Eddie talking to Jaylen Rose this week. Eddie told Jaylen that it was on the Basketball court that he met a lot of his friends and learned about street style, music and culture. There’s not many people where I hoop. Did meet someone pretty cool about 2 weeks ago. He talked a lot and shot lights out. Was a fun day at the court, but never saw him again. I do remember, when I went to church every week, I would play basketball after. I would show up at this court in the middle of nowhere and another guy would be there every Sunday. We played intense one on one. Never talked just played. Was really fun, but a bit strange how we only communicated by playing B-Ball together. I didn’t learn much street culture. But he did have a tattoo of a tear under his left eye.

Looks like a movie I would like. Basketball, NYC, Streetz, A bit of Bling, and good possibility of a solid story. Huangs World was always fun to watch and Fresh Off the Boat had some funny moments. Hopefully this has some of the humor and culture we’ve come to know from Huang’s previous projects. And sure hope it has a good ending. The last 2 basketball movies I’ve seen , didn’t quite end well. I personally could go for a Happy, Positive ending of this movie. We shall see. It opens in theaters on Friday March 5, 2021. I don’t have a vaccine yet, so won’t be going to the theater. Would like to see it in a theater, but I’m not quite ready to be in an enclosed space for 2 hours indoors. I’m sure we’ll see it soon on Netflix, Amazon Prime or maybe YouTube.
It’s a great time for the movie to come out. This weekend is the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday March 7, 2021. Lots of flashy Tasty Mint Green and Black Kicks coming out this weekend, the 3 point shot contest, skills challenge and the Dunk contest. For those who usually watch the dunk contest on Saturday night, a big FYI The Dunk contest is happening during half time of Sundays NBA All-Star game!!! So be ready. Everything is Sunday, keeping things safe as we continue with da Rona pandemic.

Does this make Scents?
Really? or Really!
Authentiqute by eBay brings us a candle made to smell like brand new Kicks. Is this a really! or a really? Depends on who you are. Sounds like a 1994 Radio stunt done with candles. But they are serious and have really made this candle to smell like some brand new sneakers. And are selling it.
This is Really! or Really? what they have done! Here is what Authentique mentions their candle smells like:
- Warm Pebbled Leather
- Glue
- EVA Foam
- Cotton Blossom
And just like the Hottest sneakers, the candle if of course very limited. Unlike the newest J’s, it’s pretty inexpensive at $25. But probably already re-selling for $100+ What do you think of this? A must purchase or a Did they really do this? I guess if you were doing a Hypebeast themed party, it would be a fun scent to burn. A new car or new pair of kicks do smell good. But a room filled with glue and foam..Hmmmm I’m 50/50 on this one. And will just do Nag Champa for now. I could use the $25 for some food.

After reading and writing about this, I’m headed to the basketball court to donate another pair of kicks for those in need. Will be dropping off a pair of triple carbon worn once Adidas Boosts. Crawford Park 2/15/21 2:00pm.
What else could we make a candle smell like:
- A new car-Obvious and a choice similar to this scent
- Fresh Snow or Rain-Rain I’ve seen. Snow could be a fun one. Or maybe Mountain Climbing.
- Bloomingdale’s-Ahh to bring back the air-conditioned air of crisp, clean clothes and shopping IRL
- Nag Champa-but you can just get some incense to do this
- The Bodega-Salami, Pastrami, Chopped Cheese with a touch of coffee, infused with essence of the carrot juice
- The Big Black Magic Markers of the 1970’s. Good way to get everyone high at your next party. Those markers were Potent!
- Chanel Nail Polish-similar to the Big Black Magic marker, but more luxurious
- Little Italy NYC-Pizza, Pasta, and the sweet scent of the Cannoli filling with a touch of powdered sugar
For some the scent of a crisp, clean pair of kicks is a wondrous moment for others more of a WTF instance. Either way, I bet this candle is Sold-Out by the time you read this blog post.
Promotional Idea: Have your readers/listeners/follower give you 5 of their favorite ingredients they would like to see in a fragrant candle. Then choose the most delicious or most creative. And have 100 of them made. Give the winner a couple and sell the rest on your website in the Limited Edition 1-100. Makes for a fun promo and a couple extra bucks in your pocket.

Stan’s the Man & Raf is Daf!
Silver and Bronze Metallic’s
The Metallic Craze continues on into Spring 2016 with the Raf Simons x Adidas Stan Smith in these two very stylish Silver and Bronze colors. If you thought the 2015 bright orange SS’s were the bomb, these two beat that color-way by a few miles. Just not sure if the Metallic trend will last. Although, this silver pair is very, very tempting.
Other colors of the Raf Simons x Adidas Stan Smith Spring 2016 kicks include: White with Mint and Burgundy details, Solid Navy, Peach, and Lemon. There will also be the Stan Smith Aged version, which looks quite used and abused in off-white and black. Would be hard to pay the big bucks for the used looking version, I’d recommend the Metallics all the way to the bank and back.

Public School Update
The Missing Black and White Shoes were found on the Red Carpet and at SSENSE.
The Public School Website is running very low on most of their black and white Kicks. We found out where you can get your own pair of the flashy patent black and white sneakers/black tie affair shoes. They are available at SSENSE. There are also a few of the Pebble-Grain sneaks at the PSNY website and Derby’s on SSENSE in the same sweet colors available Today/May 7, 2015. (A Streetzblog Wish-List for sure. But, could sell-out before I save up for them. Cost of any of the 3 is $440-$490). The Pair I like best is seen below and they are $480. Enjoy the pix of the Kicks:

NikeLab x DSM Jordan 1
PATENT at the Street Market
This Thursday April 16th, 2015 Dover Street Market unleashes the NikeLab Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG x DSM (Obsidian/White). These will be available at the NikeLab Space at the Dover Street Market NY store and on the DSMNY E-SHOP.
According to the DSMNY website, they aren’t quite sure of the launch time, but you can enter your name and email next to your size. And they will email you the information once it becomes available. Price: $185
Nice all-obsidian blue patent leather upper with white outer sole. Perfect to wear with a suit. Although, It looks like the only mention of Dover Street Market is the DSM branding on the insoles. They also have a limited edition Jordan x DSM shirt and hat on sale this Thursday April 16th. You can sign up for an email for these 2 items also.
Since these are Jordans, I suspect they will go quickly. When I was at DSMNY, I noticed most of the staff and some shoppers wearing a special pair of NikeLab kicks in a beige colorway. It was the first time I’d ever seen them. Since then I’ve only noticed them on a female Runway model. Look like they were pretty limited.
The other shoe collab that I like is the Converse x DSM. I have a pair of these and they are the newer re-imagined Cons with an extra bounce in the sole. Very comfortable, you can really tell the difference. They are a pure black-Out colorway with a DSM design/logo in white. I’m pretty sure I’m the only one in Hawaii who has a pair of these. And some are still available on the DSMNY website.
