The Streetzblog has not missed a Rick Owens Runway review in many, many years. But I was out of town for the men’s show and the women’s show is very similar. Both Set in Rick Owens own home somewhere in Paris, France. Yes, it would be a dream to be in his home to see the fab architecture and amazing furniture. I’ve been to the NY flagship store in Soho, NY (Shout out to Eileen M). And the vibe is is truly quite extraordinary and very similar to the 2 shows set in his very own home.

The Big Question: In in Fall/Winter of 2024, will you be wearing the blow up boots? They come in multiple colors and are worn by almost all the models in both shows. Below is Model extraordinaire, Alex Consani trying them on. And below this are the 2 videos of the inflatable boots in almost every frame of the shows.

I personally drop my phone a lot, get a ton of paint on my clothes and shoes and tend to bump into walls and things on the daily. So I would be super scared I’d puncture them pretty quickly. What do you think? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section or fill out the survey below the videos with a Yah or Nay.

I suspect we shall see them in the Spring in NY, Milan and Tokyo. I rarely see Ramones or Geo Baskets in Hawaii, so doubt we will see any inflateables out here. Although, they would be super easy to blow up on Oahu, since all the ABC stores have free access to high speed pumps for your kids floaties and colossal rafts.

Private Policy Public Plethora

Today’s setting: Acrylic paint splattered on my floor and all over my hands & clothes as I continue to paint a colorful abstract intricate hidden meaning in many places painting, that I have worked on for 5+ Months. Layer 22 and 23 were applied today, as I listen to Loud hard pounding Techno direct from some club in Berlin. While watching Lady Gaga sip decadent Italian expresso as she upsets and uproots the House of Gucci, on the TV with the sound turned to zero.

Since I work on Sunday, I Attempt to douse 2 days of a weekend into one Saturday with an overload of sensory additives. So I added in one more audio/visual stimuli into the mix with the Private Policy Fall/Winter NYFW Runway Show. Inside of this video below, a swirling staircase of even more daedalian labyrinthine multitudes of obvious & hidden meanings.

The show is highlighted with a curious duplexity of ideas, curated by a creative custom soundtrack and a futuristic fluorescent green entrance into a runway of crumbled hay in a cowboy-girl barn.

Women and Men strut the catwalk with super slicked back glossy hair almost as plastique as some of the Futue-Past Jetson’s suits in a multitude of colors. The menswear stand-outs include the future forward cowboyesque Cris-Crossed beige flannel shirt, the jackets with more pockets than one can count and the dark distressed denim jacket.

For the women we have a polymorphic plethora of delicious offerings including: The brightly shimmering astro-space silver dress and the form fitting shortskirt, the grey militaristic jacket with the ultra skimpy matching mini skirt, and the flowing oh so effortlessly black satin dress.

See what else you can find within this journey into future-past-future dreams of Private Policy. Let us know in the comments section below the blog post.

Vagabond Elegance

YOHJI YAMAMOTO MEN’S SPRING/SUMMER 2024 FASHION SHOW – Men’s Fashion Week June 2023 Paris, France

For every Yohji Yamamoto show his clothing is the same yet different. He finds ways to display his exquisite, extremely well tailored, underground spy style of clothing, similar yet distinctively different each collection. These are some of the finest fabrics made, each garment flows gracefully and looks like something I’d love to wear to bed. Comfy, swirling effortlessly with the perceptible Yohji Yamamoto vision. Sweet dreams are made of Yohji Yamamoto.

The greys, blacks and purples were excellent choices of colors. There were vests on top of vests, layer upon layer of cool comfortable fabrics displaying high end unhoused chicness throughout the show. And I swear I saw a couple of outfits with various width pant legs on the same pair of pants. See if you can find this? And the use of a brimful of buttons is playful yet very stylish at the same time. There’s also some hidden Where’s Waldo sightings of various shapes of the letter Y throughout the runway show. Catch em’ if you can.

The show oozed comfort and high end fabrics that gave me comfort and a sense of warm sunshine within my soul. Yohji Yamamoto’s clothes look similar throughout the years, yet this show felt even more eloquent, more elegant, more high-end vagabond chic than ever.

Glamor & Goth in the California Sun!

DEMNA DOES IT AGAIN

On a Sunny Saturday afternoon in Hollywood, Creative Director: Demna Gvasalia unleashed his newest Balenciaga Ready to Wear collection. The Heat of the day was quenched with dark black Charcoal infused drinks. With a plethora of Dark, Goth on trend clothing along with some quite nice pops of bright colors including Bright Yellow, Barbie Pink and Green Grass Green. Many models carried the super famous EREWHON brown grocery bags made of leather. Yep, this is the place that has the ultra pricey smoothies where celebs flock for their curated vegan meals and supplements.

The Show did take from the 1980’s bright color mix of classic aerobic suiting along with some Dope Ath-Leisure/Health-Goth Garments. The designs on the runway and those worn by the many celebrities in attendance battled it out to see who wore it best. It’s so interesting to see how high level celebs get some of the luxury pieces prior to the show. Oh, but good news on this show, you can get your own quick fix fit on their Exclusive release website. Select & Limited items include: “No Logo” Jersey items, new 10XL Sneakers, Le Cagole Tote XL Bag, T-Shirts, Zip Hoodies and embroidered baseball caps

The Cat-Eye Oversized Neo-Esque Opaque sunglasses were worn by many models and celebs alike. Going to be a ton of #realfake copy cats on the streetz very soon. Will be pretty hard to make #fakereal oversized kicks. The 10XL’s luxury gym shoes have a monstrous amount of material. Would cost a pretty penny to make replicants. And OMG the Jacob & Co. x Balenciaga silver choker chain. Wow! Very nice. And did I Hear that they are making some customized chokkers in exquisite high quality Diamonds? You gotta dig a bit, yet it is on their site.

I especially liked the oversized gym look, the layered trousers and the on trend: Jackets made into Pants made into Jackets.

I gotta tell you I watched this show live in the hot sun myself, awaiting a happy meal withe the 2 free toys for my Grand-Daughter-Adalyn. I was taking screen shots as we inched our way along the lengthy line at Mickey D’s. Glad it was a long line, almost saw the entire show in the drive thru lane.

Make sure you listen to the Soundtrack by BFRND, It has vast amount of pertinent info about the world we live in today. I listened so well, I immediately took all our mobiles+ iPads away and went on an outdoor picnic with just talking, eating and knock-knock jokes galore. Was really good fun!

STREETZBLOG’S EXCLUSIVE TAKE ON THE SHOW:

When I was watching the show Live I kept seeing a girl in the cat-eye shades here and there and seemed everywhere. I also found her in the screen shots and re-touched photos below. From here on in, she is officially “The Balenciaga Ghost Girl EXCLUSIVE VIP” It’s like a “Wheres Waldo” when you start to look for her, it’s pretty trippy. I suspect there were more than one ghost girl planted in the crowd. Demna likes to hide covert meanings of the world we live in, directly in plain site for all with a Keen eye to find and ponder.

I’m not the biggest fan of bright, sun blasting runway shows in general, but this one had enough peripheral visions to keep me enthralled. It was quite entertaining and there are some nice black clothes, which is always a plus for a high powered fashion house to avouch to me and many other creatures of the night. No one has ever feigned, floundered, mercilessly wearing black. Truly a Gothic Paradise in the Sun!

And the final look with all white look with a immense ode to Cristobal Balenciaga, gets an A+. And finally a pic of Demna wearing thick Balenciaga leather on top more layers of clothing…in Hollywood, CA.

Odette Alverez’ Colorful Wonderland

Odette Alvarez-Spring/Summer 2024. Madrid, Spain. 9/18/23

Music-Carmen, Act1: Habenero

OMG! Just yesterday I was telling my daughter Ashlyn, that Purple and Green are the go to colors at the moment. I noticed them in San Francisco last month and decided my next Streetzblog promo shirt would highlight these 2 colors. And look what comes down the runway first today, Purple & Green. I love it!

The music was a bit challenging for me to deal with. I still get memory twinges of having to go to the Opera as an 8 year old and for some reason, this type of music freaks me out. Like Big Time! I couldn’t tell you why, it just does.

I do like the blue pants and the oversized sheer button down shirt. It looks so comfy, I’d trade what I’m wearing right now to put it on. And I have some pretty pricey & dope Y-3 shorts on right now.

In many of the looks, the clothing is a bit over the top, yet I’m sure it works well in Madrid or at an expensive Fetes De La Nuit in the South of France. The HD level of the video is next level and I do like the dark room withe the blue spot-lights. And Make sure you watch until the end when the backdrop transforms and turns into quite a spectacle.

Purple, green and yellow outfits about mid-show are so intricate and trippy that I didn’t even notice the music. Wow! Such nice details and deluxe tailoring. Very nice! Another piece I am fond of is the black cape with the fluorescent green and some of the oversized hoodies hoods are pretty impressive. And if you ever need a great Easter or Kentucky Derby fascinator or Derby styled chapeaux, Odette Alvarez is the place to shop, that is for sure!

It’s great to see professional, stylish, classic models on the Runway. Only they could pull off some of the black and silver dresses. Very Classy. Thank you Odette for the enjoyable Show!

Natasha Zinko Post Apocalyptic Goth

My favorite fiction to read at the moment is Post-Apocalyptic, right now I am digging the Silo Trilogy and Individutopia. I cant quite pinpoint why I like the genre so much, but it’s what intrigues me the most at this moment in 2023. Balenciaga, Rick Owens and many others have taken us to the world they envision after the possible Apocalypse. At London Fashion week, Ukrainian born and London based, Natasha Zinko takes us there via a Goth Camp.

Natasha set up camp in Central London’s Soho Square on the grassy area, check out the black Goth tents in the background. I would camp in one of those if I could find a tent like that. She should sell Zinko goth tents on Amazon to make a few extra bucks.

The runway show had a delicious driving techno beat that gave the models extra spring in their stomping steps as they marched fast and furiously across the green grass. Of course there were black fabric designs including the dark puffer “Bee” and the torn yet tailored dress. But my favorite look of all was the perfectly placed Bibidies that formed a skirt with reference to bandage/bondage gear.

The Gothic campers adorned mega utility belts ready for their next outing or encounter with a possible fentanyl Zombie attack. And don’t forget to look at the attendees, many of them came to this gothic paradise prepared to party with the designer and models post show. Some very interesting attire was worn in the crowd. More colorful and distinct than many other shows. I’d sure like to go to the after party for this show. I bet Betsy Johnson was there too, she is Zinko’s creative director. I just cant see her wearing the color black.

Highlights

  • Army Green
  • Bondage/Bandage underwear skirt
  • That dessert color that seems to be growing on me.
  • The grey outfit that matched the color of the tents
  • The Techno Music was a prefect match to the show
  • Audience
  • Gothic Camp
  • Dystopian possibilities
  • Oversized duffels and backpacks
  • The cadence of the stomping models

Post-Apocalyptic Balenciaga

Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2023 The Mud Show Paris Fashion Week. Sunday October 2, 2022. #PFW22.

The show took place in the Mud in an imaginary brownish-black planet void of homes, stores and iconic Parisienne motifs in Villepinte, a commune in the suburbs of Paris.

Notables in attendance: Kylie Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, Christine, Quinn, Anna Wintour, Naomi Cambell, and Alexa Demie. Kanye and his children, North West, Saint West and Chicago West all wearing Balenciaga.

Music: ELEPHANT by BFRND, UFO361 & SONUS030

Really Fun invites: Attendees at the Runway show received wallets as their invitation. Inside the wallets, were coins, credit cards, a gym membership, a picture of a cat, grocery receipts and other oddities you’d find in a wallet along with an ID of a lady named Natalie Antunes. Natalie is an employee of Balenciaga. On twitter, Balenciaga made a post looking for the lost wallets: The post said: Lost wallet. If found, please return it at 11:30am CET on October 2nd. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. I wonder if any of the wallets had any extra cash in them?

The start of the show went as viral as you can get within seconds of Kanye storming on to the muddy planet with a black bulky oversized military/high level security jacket, on top a black hoodie, Rubberized black pants, black gloves and some sort of mouth-piece. He was a man on a mission and other than the creepy model in the bondage dress at the finale, Ye totally stole the show and set the tone for Demna’s continuing ownership of best shows in the Biz.

The music rocks and flows as you watch the models traverse the difficult slippery muddy terrain. There’s something for everyone this time around. Extra Baggie pants and hoodies, and tiny puffer jackets, along with the new Balenciaga Tote Bag, bright orange clogs and some really nice paint splattered, distressed XL grey suit jackets. There are some luxurious yet strange arm-bags and some stuffed animals here and there. Yet this show is more of a spectacle than anything. I’d recommend, getting some chips, sipping an ice cold aqua blue beverage and lounging out in your most comfortable chair, turning up the volume and watching the video of the Show.

Once again, Demna takes us to the outer limits, hopefully not the world we will see, but the world that we may see, hopefully our species will elect to stay PRE-apoptilyptic and not the Post version!

Enjoy the show!

Mahalo: to High Snobiety, The Insider, WWD.com, the Guardian, and Vogue.com for some show notes and information.

Givenchy Fall Winter 2021/22

Sleek set, pulse pounding soundtrack, Laser Lights and Lots of Black colored clothes. This is my kind of Runway Show! Dark, Defined, Elegance from start till finish. Check out the Givenchy show below as they take you on a little trip into the deep, dark, cauldrons of precise, distinct, crisp French tailoring. Any show with this much black is a winner in my book. The soundtrack and light show exude elegance of the Rich and Famous. Kinda like a James Bond Spy movie told in 10 minutes via hot models and slick, dark, perfectly placed, layers of clothing. With some great accoutrements Like the Giant Gold chain and the fun triple back packs and spot on make-up and hair styling.

I would dig going to the after-party of this show. Then heading over to Hotel Costes for a night cap or two. Of course wearing my black double hoodie, tailored black trousers, with the giant Gold chain and the triple back pack filled with enough gear to stay out till the sun comes up.

Here are the Highlights and Low Lights of Givenchy

Highlights:

  • The Vibe
  • The techno music and laser light show. Nice build up adding on layers as the video progresses
  • Lots of Black colored High-End tailored clothes
  • The Double Hoody look
  • The Triple bag back-pack
  • Black on black on black. Loving the layers
  • Vibrant oversized Giant gold chain
  • That grey skin tight sheathe dress
  • Any show with puddles is a winner. And black puddles even better!
  • The silver flasks worn as Necklaces. Nothing says Lets Party like a flask flinging around a Hot Models neck

Lowlights:

  • The Color brown. High-End French Luxury clothing should never be brown. The blacks, whites and a tad of taboo red do the trick quite nicely
  • Some of that over the top bulky fur
  • The fuzzy fur Mittens. Uhm?
  • Main dislike is incorporating the knitted head-wear especially the creepy king crowns. Not even sure how they fit in to the HIgh-End tailored, dark, edgy, Spy Vibe. Could have used ultra High-End flat billed snapbacks. Maybe in black sleek satin or soft calfskin. Black logo on Black caps
