Oh..What a Night!
Jersey Boys. Broadway in Hawaii. Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall. Wednesday September 14, 2022

A blast of swirling energy and excitement arrived in my aura as the show started. This vibe continued throughout most of the show. It’s pretty amazing how many HITS Frankie Valli and the 4 seasons had. The show goes a little like this…a whirlwind smash of a tune sung to perfection, then a snippet story about the ups and downs of the group, then another Big hit song.

Going to this production, I thought maybe I was a little young to enjoy the show. But to my amazement, it was one of the coolest shows I’ve ever witnessed. The Jersey Boys takes you from their teenage years to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. There’s a lot to celebrate. Non stop hits from start to finish. Did you know “Oh Sherry” was their first hit. What a way to start the hit machine rolling.
The show does have a few moments of disaster and tragedy. At one point in the show Frankie gets a call that his daughter Francine has passed away from a deadly injection of the big H. At this moment, the ENTIRE theater is so super quiet, as they say you could hear a pin drop. It was like someone you knew just passed away. Very surreal feeling throughout the theater. Extreme emotion of sadness was felt from every heart in the audience.
The show picks back up with many upbeat songs that bring the crowd to their feet clapping, dancing and hollering. No matter, what age you are, this show is a big HIT for all ages. Mostly fun, up beat vibes, I laughed, smiled, sang a along to Oh What a Night and turned stomach sick emotional when Frankie’s daughter passed.
I swear I was having Andy Gibb or Leif Garret era 1977 vibes throughout the show. My eyes adored you sounded very familiar. And Oh what a night used to blast in my Ford Mustang back in the late 70’s. It was a Summer anthem back in the OG days. You will be amazed at how many songs you recognize. And the mini stories in between will take you on a roller coaster journey through 50+ years of pop history. If you are already a fan of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, that’s just an added bonus.
The performances from the 4 main characters is so spot on, from the Jersey accents to the amazing singing and dancing. And make sure you watch the supporting cast. There is budding a star or two in the mix. *Hint: Antonio King.
If you get a chance to see Jersey Boys, see it. I guarantee you’ll have a good time and a fun night out on the town.

Afterwords, we met the cast. They were super cool. Asked us if we enjoyed the show, answer was of course was a resounding YES. When we had our pix taken with the cast. Frankie/Jon Hacker joked and said “It’s the 4 Seasons!” We actually got a pic with all four of them and us two. Unbelievable! Very nice people, they just said it was a little too hot and humid for them in Hawaii. I suspect they will get used to it in another week or two. Today was actually one of the hottest days in Hawaii history. Even I was a bit fumed from the humidity. But the heat of the weather couldn’t come close to matching the high degree of hotness brought to us by the cast and crew of the 2022 Jersey Boys.

In case you may think you don’t know a Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons Song, here’s a few smatterings of covers of their songs:
- Maneskin-Beggin (Over 50 years since the Four Seasons first did it)
- The Bee Gees-Grease
- Shawn Mendes-Can’t Take My Eyes Off You
- Cher, Neil Diamond, Russel Hitchcock and others-The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore
And Here is a list of many of the songs in the Jersey Boys Broadway show:
Sherry, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Oh What a Night, My Boyfriends Back, Beggin’, My Eyes Adored You, Rag Doll, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Walk Like a Man, Working My Way Back To You and Who Loves You.

Kelly for the W!
North Shore of Oahu-2022. March 2022. Billabong Pro Pipeline 2022. Banzai Pipeline.

As Ice Cube famously said: Today Was a Good Day. Woke up, got outta bed, had a quick slick line-up, a few pieces of Sashimi, packed up the beach bag and headed out the door. Didn’t go fast, not too slow, just moved to the flow of the day. Picked up my friend and headed from the South Shore to the North shore. Hoping to see the Pipe Pro.
I did get stuck in some traffic, but just turned up the tunes and took some deep Yogic breathes. All chill no stress, Knowing that it would all work out and we will arrive on time. Cars along the road were like a full parking lot, but didn’t get upset. Got to the the pipeline and just as we arrived a car left and we scored the perfect parking spot right outside the surf meet.
There’s a Goat that eats aluminum cans, there’s a Goat that played basketball, a Goat that Golfed and another who played tennis. There is also a Goat in the Ocean. Name is Kelly Slater.
Just chilled and walked to the beach. No rush, Just perf. Sat down and saw some surfers in the water Next up Kelly Slater winning a heat against Miguel Pupo right after we arrived. Such perfect timing. Watched another heat and then got to see the finals with Kelly “the Goat” Slater and Seth Moniz.
Kelly had an almost perfect heat hitting some incredible barrels only he could do. Sneaking in back door and just as the wave closes out, he appears sneaking out the end hands held high. He won the finals and we were there to witness it in person.
We stayed on the beach to watch the awards, then sat in front of the Volcom house to watch the free surfing and to get a bit of sun tan.
Had a mouth watering burger with giant avocado at Kua Aina and headed back home to the crib. Today was a very good day! Yes indeed. A very perfect awesome day! Enjoy the pictures taken via iPhone 13 Pro Max.

BTS Pops up shop in Hawaii
BTS MAP OF THE SOUL SHOW CASE IN HAWAII Pop-Up Shop Media Event 12/17/21
I was honored and excited to attend the special BTS Media Event today 12/17/21 at the BTS Pop-Up Shop at Ala Moana Center. We were able to shop for one hour prior to the store opening to the Public. It was way funny to watch the 40 age++ crowd trying to decide which figurine to get. There are 7 to choose from and they all change their hair color every 5 minutes. But looked like everyone got what they wanted and a good time had by all.
They had BTS Figurines, Pens, Booklets, Purple Holiday Items, shirts, and even a very DOPE Black Swan Flannel shirt. Most people bought the figurines and the pens with the faces of the BTS Starts on them. Mahalo to Alan Yamamoto and Sascha Koki for the invite. I had a really fun time playing around in the interactive store! And bought some figurines and pens. Maybe next time the Flannel shirt! The Pop-Up Shop is open now thru March 2022 At Ala Moana Center near Target.

KITH comes to Kalakaua
Waikiki, Oahu-August 20, 2021
The Iconic KITH store opened up on Friday August 20, 2021 on Oahu. Located between the Apple store and Jimmy Choo on Kalakaua Ave. I stopped by for a few quick snaps of the store. And made an ill-fated attempt to get in to the store.

For their Grand-Opening they released a KITH colored bright light blue and white Air Force1 with the Hawaiian Islands featured on the tongue. They did tickets, wristbands and general standing in line to get the kicks. Saw some of the AF1’s re-selling for $700-$900.

The Store has clothes and shoes on the main road and a KITH treats shop a bit inside The Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center.

If you got lucky enough to purchase a pair of the limited release AF1. Congrats! Maybe I’ll see you down there one day in a few weeks or months. See you on the Streetz…blog!
The Super Secret Beach
We tend to stay close to the street, checking out new shoes, clothes and trends & taking care of the Street Meat Market Atelier on the Streetz…blog. And forget to show and post some of the color filled fun in the Sun. Here’s some pix from Kokoloio Beach Park. Saturday 2/6/21 during Super Bowl weekend. I stayed the day, others camped the night. Maybe next time, I’ll be more adventurous and give the tent a try. Enjoy the scenic waves, colorful water, billowy-sweeping trees, deep-cushy sand and bright blue skies from the North Shore of Oahu.

Go for the Name, Go back for the Taste
Itchy Butt’s Got the Name & the Chicken’s Tasty Too
Itchy Butt is one of the best names of a Chicken Shack on the Island of Oahu. Before Pan, I drove by it 3-5x per week. Always a pretty sizeable amount of tourists and hipsters hanging outside of it on the daily. Glancing weekly at the name of the place and thinking it was just a flash in the pan place with a fun name and novelty Food.
Come to find out, It’s been open since 2014 and I’ve driven by this place for 6 years, thinking thoughts like that. Saying, Oh maybe one day I should give it a try.
During Pan (March-August 2020) I’ve done much less driving and more walking. Thus, stopped by to give it a try on one of these walks. Since going there the first time, I’ve been back 3x since. Pretty Tasty, I do say. And I rarely eat fried foods.
It’s really easy to order up your food. Here is what I recommend: One half chicken regular. Comes with 2 delicious fried Mozzarella cheese sticks, small cup of crunchy pickled radish and a free can of Orange Passion Juice or a Pepsi. And an entire half a Chicken cooked on the spot just for you!
You order, you pay and as you wait, you hear the chicken sizzling in a freshly oiled wok. Then as the minutes tick till about 10 minutes, you hear whack, whack, whack as the half a chicken is machetied into 8-12 nice sized pieces of crunchy, crispy, extra tasty, freshly fried chicken. Comes in an overflowing white box that needs to be scotch taped so that the many pieces of chicken don’t fall out of the box.
Inside the box is 2 pieces of Oooey-Gooey batter fried Mozzarella cheese sticks. And a small cup of pickled radish/daikon-You gotta’ have some veggies with your fried chicken! Actually I like these a lot. Taste Fresh, always crisp, sweet and sour, bite sizes pieces of deliciousness.
If you get a chance to go to the Itchy Butt Chicken Shack, I would recommend it with 5 Stars for the taste and another 5 Stars for the name of the place.
The half chicken meal is $12 and should last you 2-3 meals. If you have a family of 4-5, you can get one whole chicken for about $24, comes with some extra cheese sticks, might be worth it next time I stop by the Itchy Butt.
Itchy Butt is located at: 1229 Keeaumoku St. near Kinau and the Cartwright Neighborhood Park. In Makiki. Phone: 808-942-4845. Hours vary, but come close to 10a-11p Monday thru Sunday. I do notice they close a bit earlier on Sunday evenings.

Goodwill Goes Glam
LEGACY with Anne Namba
Goodwill Goes Glam 2019
Goodwill Goes Glam is one of my favorite times of the year. Fashion show then shopping for deals. This year we celebrated 30 years of Island Fashion with Anne Namba. Then it was on to the shopping. Saw some people pick up some nice Louis this year. I didnt quite do as well as usual. Although I did score an autographed Miami Hurricane jersey. Which I will most likely give to a friend who digs that team.
The pictures for 2019 are more artsy than actual Fashion photography. Was testing out some new lenses and filters. I started with 300 and whittled them down to about 100. It’s kind of like watching a video with pictures. Hope you enjoy it and that you can feel the vibe of the show. You can see a couple of past years of Goodwill goes Glam 2017 HERE and 2018 HERE
This marks the 8th year of this annual event. Have a great day or night and see you on the Streetz…blog!
