Farmers Market-Pearlridge (Aiea, Hawaii)
Taking advantage of a 3-day weekend. I woke up super early Saturday July 2nd 2016 and attended the Farmer’s Market in the Pearlridge Mall’s parking lot in Aiea, Hawaii. I set out to get some healthy food, some nice pictures for the blog and have a bit of what I would call Tourist Fun.
You may go to the Farmer’s Market weekly or daily, Me, I shop mostly at Walmart or Foodland for my food. But been attempting to eat more fruit lately and share more about the island where I live on the Streetzblog. So, that’s why I call this a touristy thing. I’ve never really shopped at a Farmers Market before. I walk through a small one on the way to work every Tuesday and Friday, but never even stop to see or buy any of it.
The experience was pretty fun. Lots of things were $2-$3 and as an added bonus I got to try some Bacon Jam!
A few tips I learned:
- Have a budget it mind and stick to it. As you will see I didn’t make it home with too much, yet spent $100.
- Buy the fruit and vegetables. Buy the fun Breakfast food, Thai Food or Poke bowls on your tourist day or only on special occasion. The food is good, but a bit pricey. Not $2-$3. My breakfast sandwich was quite yummy but cost $15. Plus a Coffee $5 Plus a Lemonade $5. That’s $25 in 5 minutes. This is just a tip, not something I would do, the breakfast sandwich was delish, the coffee was cold brewed so it kept me awake for days and the lemonade with Pineapple Li Ling Mui was quite refreshing and I saved it for my dinner. Bonus Tip: Ask for extra ice for the coffee and the Lemonade, the Hawaii weather melts the ice in like 2 seconds.
- Buy from the first stand on the right. Almost everything in it is $2-$3. And make sure you get the Sugar Candy Banana’s. They are very sweet and healthy at the same time. Wow!
- Get there early. Like when they first open at 8:30am. Things go quick and the heat from the parking lot can become unbearable after 10:30am.
- Get the dragon fruit. Because it looks so colorful. And I expect it tastes good, but have yet to figure out what to do with it. Gonna’ Google it first, before cutting it up.
- Have fun! Play Tourist. Take pictures. Enjoy the moment. Hey-I just might check out another one of these things next weekend.
Here’s more of the experience in pictures! If you celebrate 4th of July, Have a Happy Independance Day 2016. And don’t forget the fruit with your Hamburgers and Hot Dogs. See you on the Streetz!
I can’t leave you without showing my shoes and a very cute picture of Adalyn. Along with the sliced up and already eaten Mango. BTW: The mango was even better than the Banana’s. Tasted extra sweet after putting it in the Fridge for a couple hours. I never knew Fruit could taste so Good! OMG!!!
My Haul for the Day, Along with my cat Squirley checking out what’s for lunch!
Interesting View of the Place I live
Hmm. A slightly British accent commentating on Honolulu, Hawaii..the place I live most of the year. When I lived in Chicago, we would pretty much stay in the same 30 mile radius. So not much has changed living here. I would be considered a Townie. It takes me about 10 minutes to go almost everywhere in my car. A bit less than a 30 mile area.
This Monocle Travel Guide to Honolulu is pretty decent. Other than a bit more in depth view of Downtown-Chinatown and some more beach activity. They did a nice job on the hipster aspects of where I live.
Here’s a quick list of some of the places viewed and the names of the people to ask for when you get to these places:
- Hawaii Theatre: John
- Beach Vollyball: KC
- Panama Hats: Ryan
- Blue Note: Martha or Kristin
The only place, I’ve never been on their list is the Livestock Tavern. Guess I better check it out!
I liked the wording Tropical Modernism that’s a good take on our Sunny Island Paradise. And their tag line is pretty cool. City’s are Fun, Let’s Explore. See you on the Streetz!
KiniZamora X Touch by Alyssa Milano
Hawaii designer, Kini Zamora won the Project Runway All-Stars Challenge last night (Thursday April 7, 2016) on TV. By winning the Atleisure Challenge, the prize included taking the design and producing it into a collab with Touch by Alyssa Milano.
I don’t know when the show is taped, but when I watch I like it to seem like it’s happening live. But check this out! The jacket has already been tweaked a bit and is available now at Touch!
The pictures below show the design on project Runway and the picture on the right is the transformed jacket as pictured in today’s (Friday April 8, 2016) Alyssa Milano Instagram picture. The jacket and Shirts are available now right here. Jackets are $99.99 and Shirts $49.99 and come in many different NFL and MLB team designs. Including The Chicago Bears, New York Giants, Seattle Seahawks, New York Yankees, Oakland A’s, Chicago Cubs and many more.
Congratulations to Hawaii’s Kini Zamora for winning the challenge. And congrats to Touch by Alyssa Milano for hitting the fast lane on getting the merch out to the masses.
See you on the Streetz.
What’s Up Cali, Hawaii and England!
Today is full of vids from people I know and like. With Summer in full Effect, here’s a nice soundtrack to kick your day up a notch or 2. First up is Quiz ft. Alex Simone with Living for the Summer. Quiz is a bit of a sneakerhead like me, so make sure you check his kicks in the vid. (Note: I try to keep my blog pretty unexplicit, but today friends are doing the songs-And I want to hook them up with some SB exposure. So just warning you, there could be a few naughty words. Be prepared, there’s not many, but there are some).
I’m Not a Player, but I know a few.
Of course, what comes next is the OG version of the tune by Quiz. It’s Ice Cube with It Was a Good Day. Always a nice song to bang up loud when you might be feeling a little down.
Keeping in the LA vibe. Here’s Walter French with the City #LA ft. Glasses Malone and AV. If you go back to Quiz’s vid, you can see Walter doing a little cameo, sippin’ a bit of OJ from the red cup. And since we do a lot of Fashion and style posts on streetzblog. Many of you may really dig some of the outfits the ladies are wearing. I’m liking the bright colors of the clothes and especially the hats & hair. Nice, styling looking ladies.
Now back to Hawaii, it’s Kaipo Kapua with issue #9 of CAR-E-OKI with Common Kings. I can’t believe they’ve made 9 of these already. When do they sleep?
And closing the 2015 Summer Daylist-Playlist off, we head to England with one of my favorite’s of the Summer. It’s the Chemical Brothers ft Q-tip with Go. For some reason the bass line and hook on this just makes my day. Words a bit simple but the production on this will even make your computer sound like it’s been hacked by a Marshall Stack or a Beats Pill.
Have a nice week. See you on the streetz. Hoping your day is Fun and Fabulous! #rockstarliving
Fashion Fun Frantic Frenzy
November 6-9, 2014
Such a fun week to live in Hawaii.
Thursday Morning 5:00 a.m: Alexander Wang x H&M collaboration goes on sale on-line. 7:10 a.m 37th in line at the H&M Store in Waikiki. 8:00 a.m. Everything goes on sale.
The Scuba style Jacket was number one on my list and I was lucky enough to nab the only one hanging in the store. It’s a bit big, but should be fine in NYC in December. Yes, I got caught up in the hype partially from these 2 Alexander Wang x H&M pictures. They got me good.
Thursday Night 8:00 p.m: Jimmy Choo Waikiki Grand Opening Celebration. Attendees dressed up beyond anything I’ve ever seen in Hawaii. The ladies were all in very colorful Versace, Valentino, Calvin Klein and many other designer name brands. With bags from Louis Vuitton, Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Coach, and Prada. Beverages and Food included: Comp Martinis and Champagne with Asparagus/Gruyère Canapes. Good thing it was too busy to shop, I really don’t need any more kicks at the moment. And I’m on one of those shopping fasts until 12/17/14.
Friday Night 5:30 p.m: A big goal for me and maybe for you is to get to NY Fashion week sometime. This year, Honolulu did a Honolulu Fashion Week. So, I signed up to volunteer. On Friday night, I was one of the Ushers at the Art of Fashion: The Best of Neiman Marcus and the Kini and Dinko Spring Summer 2015 Runway Shows. It was quite fun, I helped people find their seats, saw many people I haven’t seen in years, met some new friends, saw a bunch of people I only see on Social Media and got to see both shows up close and personal. Here’s some pictures from the Runway Show: The Art of Fashion: The Best of Neiman Marcus. These are courtesy of Matt a fellow usher who knows how to take a nice picture.
And Wow! This cracks me up. Every time I watch a Runway Show on the internet I can’t believe how many people use their phones to take pictures from the front rows of the shows. And guess what? I used my iPhone 5s to take pictures of the 2 Runways shows. In one respect the shows were so good, I’d love to share some real pictures of the exquisite designs. In another, some of these are pretty trippy. I didn’t filter or edit any of them and the models some how look like ghosts or like their image was taken away via Photoshop and replaced by WHITE. Let’s just categorize them as art and that should work.
Super nice post show festivities included the opportunity to get a picture with Kini Zamora. Kini is from Kapolei, HI, He did extremely well at Project Runway Season 13 and along with Dinko Satto, he designed and produced the Kini and Dinko Fashion line. The collection was very good. Sporty-Chic, utilizing similar scuba style neoprene as Alexander Wang x H&M. Also had some other nice fabrics, vibrant whites with blacks, and exquisite draping. And to my surprise, Kini and Dinko had both Men’s and Women’s clothing. I’m sure you can find some nice pictures from the show by Googling Kini and Dinko Hawaii 2014. There were many pro photographers at the show.
A couple more pictures from Friday November 7, 2014:
Picture re-cap of Eat the Street in Honolulu, Hawaii-Dia de los Muertos
Spoiler Alert: If you’re scared of clowns, skip this post and check out another. Or come back later for some Style, Kicks, Clothes and Fashionably Fantastic posts.
Friday October 31st – Halloween 2014, Eat the Street in Honolulu celebrated Dia de los Muertos. The Day fo the Dead. Which is celebrated Halloween thru November 2nd. I was there and took a few pictures of the costumes. At this event, some of the biggest costumes included: Where’s Waldo, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Batman and his crew of buddies and villains, Day of the Dead painted faces, and One Super Scary Clown from Stephen Kings It, with the same name as the Punk-Alt band-Pennywise.
With that Ultra scary clown on American Horror Story keeping me up nights. I will post this scary clown, but probably be too scared to ever look at him again. He did win first prize for the scariest costume at this Eat the Street Event. Enjoy the pictures from Honolulu Hawaii-Or if you’re too scared of clowns, see you later this week at H&M x Alexander Wang and at the Grand Opening of Jimmy Choo in Waikiki.
Must See Music Videos-Thursday October 2, 2014
Poison Ivory-Mr. Wonderful: My friend Romeo Valentine just came back from a star-studded tour of L.A. He hit up some clubs like the Greystone where he bumped into Chris Paul, Walter French, Charisma, Don Benjamin, DJ Amen and saw Lebron James in the VIP Lounge. He also went to see Poison Ivory and said that, All the LA DJ’s were there to check her out. They are banking on her being the NBT. I think she fits the blog pretty well, if you watch it, you’ll see some pretty progressive styling. Flo-Green Hair, Designer duds, lots of accessories including some pretty fun sunglasses, necklaces and a very colorful design palette. Which designers clothes and/or Accessories do you notice in the Vid? let us know in the comment section at the bottom of the blog. Also, tell us know if it’s a Yay or Nay on her blowing up big soon?
Chromeo-Old 45’s: This Video is compliments of Chromeo and SSENSE. SSENSE being one of my favorite places to go luxe-life shopping on-line. Well, once in a while shopping, most of the time, Window shopping or Trend watching. This tune was a bit slow and romantic for me the first time I listened to it, but by the 3rd time my feet were tapping the floor. Check out the cameo from Napoleon Dynamite. It’s really fun to see him there, but with all that dancing going on, why doesn’t he dance, did he forget his infamous moves from his big movie? I WANT HIM TO DANCE. But, still cool to see he’s still hanging around the scene. Note: You can get some Chromeo inspired clothing at SSENSE. The black leather biker jacket is pretty sick, see the Chromeo x Surface To Air clothes here.
Ahh, I couldn’t resist, here’s Napoleon Dynamite Doing his Thang. Go Nap D, Go Nap D, Go!
Kaskade-Atmosphere: I had such a great time working the door at this past weekend’s LoveFest. Thanks G, Don and Nikki. So glad you’ve gotten me out of the condo the last 3 years to see how LoveFest has gotten so huge and is such a fun event. I was at LoveFest 1-4 and 14-16. Not sure where I was 5-14, so glad to be back in the mix. Anyways, I had so much fun at LF, now I’m gearing up for Kaskade at Turtle Bay on November 8. So, here’s one of the newer Kaskade tunes. It’s also pretty fashionable and shows some Cool Kids Clothes along with some nice bright yellow and purple Atmosphere shirts. My favorite Kaskade tune is by far I Remember with Angel on my Shoulder and Cant stop DAncing coming in 2nd and 3rd. But this seemed the most fashionable and I’d never heard it until today. So here it is:
Moguai x Benny Benassi-Gangsta: This is my latest find, I actually heard it yesterday for the first time and tracked it down today. Benny is best known for his hit way back when entitled Satisfaction and Moguai is pretty good friends with Deadmau5 and did a couple pretty famous little ditty’s, ACIIID, and U know Y. This tune as all the elements rockin’ the EDM scene now. Stabbing infectious beats, a short repetitive snippet of a cool saying, and the Massive drop everyone digs at all the shows. Fresh, Funky and spot on for October 2, 2014.
Kaskade-The Brocks: I leave you now with One more Kaskade video. As you know I love to visit NYC, play basketball and once in a while attempt to skateboard. Thus, I need to show you this one. It fits so many different vibes that Streetzblog conveys. The video matches up great with many a streetzblog post. The song, well, it’s a bit mellow for me, but does have a catchy hook after you listen to it a couple of times.
See you on the streetz of Oahu this week and weekend. And hopefully at Kaskade in November. I’m Already getting ready to seeing everyone in NYC December 18-23, 2014. I can totally smell the crisp, cool, air, taste the best bacon in the world and oh so tasty sweet rolls at the buffet at my hotel and sure hope to see the FIT real or counterfeit exhibition.
Oh and if you forgot to get a Love Festival shirt or weren’t even there and want a dope shirt. There are a few still available over at CityStarsApparel.com

Spartan Race 2014-The Beast-Saturday August 16, 2014
Part 4 of the 4 part Spartan Race Survival Series.
This is part 4 of the 4 part Spartan Race Survival series. It’s way different from the last post. By seeing many of these pictures you would think it was just a wonderful beautiful day at Kualoa Ranch. And yes, that’s what it was in part. The other portion was survival of a 13+ mile race with over 25+ Obstacles.
The picturesque setting is really famous for the filming of Jurassic Park. You may have also seen some of this picturesque beauty in Fantasy Island, Lost, and Pearl Harbor. During the first few miles of the race, I did enjoy the view, after that I saw a few things here and there, but was mainly just trying to survive Thanks to James for all the great pictures from his GoPro. All of these are his and my pictures. All Original direct from the source:
