Itchy Butt’s Got the Name & the Chicken’s Tasty Too
Itchy Butt is one of the best names of a Chicken Shack on the Island of Oahu. Before Pan, I drove by it 3-5x per week. Always a pretty sizeable amount of tourists and hipsters hanging outside of it on the daily. Glancing weekly at the name of the place and thinking it was just a flash in the pan place with a fun name and novelty Food.
Come to find out, It’s been open since 2014 and I’ve driven by this place for 6 years, thinking thoughts like that. Saying, Oh maybe one day I should give it a try.
During Pan (March-August 2020) I’ve done much less driving and more walking. Thus, stopped by to give it a try on one of these walks. Since going there the first time, I’ve been back 3x since. Pretty Tasty, I do say. And I rarely eat fried foods.
It’s really easy to order up your food. Here is what I recommend: One half chicken regular. Comes with 2 delicious fried Mozzarella cheese sticks, small cup of crunchy pickled radish and a free can of Orange Passion Juice or a Pepsi. And an entire half a Chicken cooked on the spot just for you!
You order, you pay and as you wait, you hear the chicken sizzling in a freshly oiled wok. Then as the minutes tick till about 10 minutes, you hear whack, whack, whack as the half a chicken is machetied into 8-12 nice sized pieces of crunchy, crispy, extra tasty, freshly fried chicken. Comes in an overflowing white box that needs to be scotch taped so that the many pieces of chicken don’t fall out of the box.
Inside the box is 2 pieces of Oooey-Gooey batter fried Mozzarella cheese sticks. And a small cup of pickled radish/daikon-You gotta’ have some veggies with your fried chicken! Actually I like these a lot. Taste Fresh, always crisp, sweet and sour, bite sizes pieces of deliciousness.
If you get a chance to go to the Itchy Butt Chicken Shack, I would recommend it with 5 Stars for the taste and another 5 Stars for the name of the place.
The half chicken meal is $12 and should last you 2-3 meals. If you have a family of 4-5, you can get one whole chicken for about $24, comes with some extra cheese sticks, might be worth it next time I stop by the Itchy Butt.
Itchy Butt is located at: 1229 Keeaumoku St. near Kinau and the Cartwright Neighborhood Park. In Makiki. Phone: 808-942-4845. Hours vary, but come close to 10a-11p Monday thru Sunday. I do notice they close a bit earlier on Sunday evenings.
Here’s a picture of their infamous Sign. When I await my freshly fried delicacies. I stare at the sign and wonder: Did they peel that sign on purpose to make it look like the feathers from a Chicken? I suspect not, but it’s a cute added touch that makes this place the tastiest chicken shack on the island.
See you on the Streetz
LEGACY with Anne Namba
Goodwill Goes Glam 2019
Goodwill Goes Glam is one of my favorite times of the year. Fashion show then shopping for deals. This year we celebrated 30 years of Island Fashion with Anne Namba. Then it was on to the shopping. Saw some people pick up some nice Louis this year. I didnt quite do as well as usual. Although I did score an autographed Miami Hurricane jersey. Which I will most likely give to a friend who digs that team.
The pictures for 2019 are more artsy than actual Fashion photography. Was testing out some new lenses and filters. I started with 300 and whittled them down to about 100. It’s kind of like watching a video with pictures. Hope you enjoy it and that you can feel the vibe of the show. You can see a couple of past years of Goodwill goes Glam 2017 HERE and 2018 HERE

Uniqlo on Oahu!
Ala Moana:Grand Opening
Saturday September 28, 2018-Honolulu, HI
Uniqlo is reaching the Beaches and Rockin’ the shores! The Brand New Uniqlo at Ala Moana Center on the Island of Oahu is open for business! Here’s a Sneak Peak of this friendly, fashion forward, priced nice, new store.
The Day I arrive on my yearly December trip to NY, the 3rd stop right off the plane is Uniqlo on 5th Avenue. Even though, I have their heat-tech garments. I go there to get a 2nd or 3rd set and hang out to people watch. It’s a very colorful, fun store with lots of action.
The Hawaii store is also colorful and fun. But instead of Heat-Tech garments, the go to piece des resistance here is the Comfortable Rayon Aloha Shirt. They have about 6 different patterns to choose from. They are comfortable, on trend and priced really nice at just $29.90.
I bought the Black shirt with white flowers, and may go back to get the blue and white or the White, black and Red (The Uniqlo branded color way-at least that’s what I would label it as). And you know what? These shirts, aren’t available on 5th Avenue in NYC. They are Hawaii Exclusives. So that is pretty Awesome right there! Locals and tourists have access to some really nice shirts at excellent prices.
Here’s some of the fun things you can see in the store. It’s like a mini museum of Aloha wear.
If you get a chance to check out the new store say yellow to Joseph. Very friendly & helpful. We even received a free Uniqlo Tote bag with this nifty secret pocket inside. *As we came in to the store, we were given Free Fans and balloons. Was a fun trip to the new store!
They have this really cool graphic Aloha Shirt hanging at the store. I did ask if it was for sale. They said not now, maybe one day. It has some nice Japanese elements and futuristic design in it. What do you think? Special Limited Edition? It reminds me a bit of Takashi Murakami’s work. BTW: They do have some pretty dope Murakami T’s in the Keiki Section of the store!
See you on the Streetz! Sunday, it’s the Clippers in Hawaii, The Hale Aina Awards and then maybe on Monday, back to Uniqlo for another Hawaii Exclusive Aloha Shirt. LMK if you want me to pick one up and send it to you. I’m sure, you’ll be delighted to Rock it!
I’m keeping this page Live for the Holiday Season. I’m attempting to take a selfie at every Christmas tree I see.
Here are the first of many: Number 1 is me on 12/12 on Oahu at Topa Tower, 2nd pic is on Oahu on 12/13 at MVNP.
Goal is to have fun, keep myself positive and in a good mood and use my phone to update my blog.

Blaisdell Exhibition Hall
The Goodwill Goes Glam Runway Show kicks off the Glam shopping weekend. When Goodwill takes over the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall to sell some super excellent used and new goods with the proceeds going to Goodwill’s Education and Employment Training Programs.
This is the 6th Annual GLAM! Fashion show utilizing some pretty awesome fashion finds found at Goodwill. This year’s presentation takes you on a 40 year adventure divided into 5 sections: Generation, Retrospective, Transformation, Moments & Confessions.
After the Show, you could shop the Runway looks along with a special section of Kaypee Soh pieces and with a good eye, you could nab some great designer duds at inexpensive prices.
This year’s presentation was produced by award-winning artist and designer Kaypee Soh. Along with co producers Amy Azada, Rene Rodriguez and my friend who got us in as VIP; Amanda Stevens. (Rolanda, Mina, Kat and I all Thank You for the terrific seats & invite to this special GLAM! Fashion Show). Hair & Make-Up: Paul Brown & Jonathan Freitas.

Glitterama! And as the pix below show it was nice and shiny IRL BTW: The S/S Mens Commes Des Garcons has some pretty good-looking Glittery baggy shorts for guys. Will we see all this glitter and glamour on the Streetz?
The Red Dress was pretty incredible and dramatic. Some darkness lurking, and a lot of pieces of clothing put together to become a dress worn by a super happy model.

Big Score of the Night. BAPE’s and Black patent PRADA Hi-Tops, both in my size! Later this week, I’ll show you the total haul. I’m glad I had a pre set budget. Farmers Market-Pearlridge (Aiea, Hawaii)
Taking advantage of a 3-day weekend. I woke up super early Saturday July 2nd 2016 and attended the Farmer’s Market in the Pearlridge Mall’s parking lot in Aiea, Hawaii. I set out to get some healthy food, some nice pictures for the blog and have a bit of what I would call Tourist Fun.
You may go to the Farmer’s Market weekly or daily, Me, I shop mostly at Walmart or Foodland for my food. But been attempting to eat more fruit lately and share more about the island where I live on the Streetzblog. So, that’s why I call this a touristy thing. I’ve never really shopped at a Farmers Market before. I walk through a small one on the way to work every Tuesday and Friday, but never even stop to see or buy any of it.
The experience was pretty fun. Lots of things were $2-$3 and as an added bonus I got to try some Bacon Jam!
A few tips I learned:
- Have a budget it mind and stick to it. As you will see I didn’t make it home with too much, yet spent $100.
- Buy the fruit and vegetables. Buy the fun Breakfast food, Thai Food or Poke bowls on your tourist day or only on special occasion. The food is good, but a bit pricey. Not $2-$3. My breakfast sandwich was quite yummy but cost $15. Plus a Coffee $5 Plus a Lemonade $5. That’s $25 in 5 minutes. This is just a tip, not something I would do, the breakfast sandwich was delish, the coffee was cold brewed so it kept me awake for days and the lemonade with Pineapple Li Ling Mui was quite refreshing and I saved it for my dinner. Bonus Tip: Ask for extra ice for the coffee and the Lemonade, the Hawaii weather melts the ice in like 2 seconds.
- Buy from the first stand on the right. Almost everything in it is $2-$3. And make sure you get the Sugar Candy Banana’s. They are very sweet and healthy at the same time. Wow!
- Get there early. Like when they first open at 8:30am. Things go quick and the heat from the parking lot can become unbearable after 10:30am.
- Get the dragon fruit. Because it looks so colorful. And I expect it tastes good, but have yet to figure out what to do with it. Gonna’ Google it first, before cutting it up.
- Have fun! Play Tourist. Take pictures. Enjoy the moment. Hey-I just might check out another one of these things next weekend.
Here’s more of the experience in pictures! If you celebrate 4th of July, Have a Happy Independance Day 2016. And don’t forget the fruit with your Hamburgers and Hot Dogs. See you on the Streetz!
I can’t leave you without showing my shoes and a very cute picture of Adalyn. Along with the sliced up and already eaten Mango. BTW: The mango was even better than the Banana’s. Tasted extra sweet after putting it in the Fridge for a couple hours. I never knew Fruit could taste so Good! OMG!!!
My Haul for the Day, Along with my cat Squirley checking out what’s for lunch!
Interesting View of the Place I live
Hmm. A slightly British accent commentating on Honolulu, Hawaii..the place I live most of the year. When I lived in Chicago, we would pretty much stay in the same 30 mile radius. So not much has changed living here. I would be considered a Townie. It takes me about 10 minutes to go almost everywhere in my car. A bit less than a 30 mile area.
This Monocle Travel Guide to Honolulu is pretty decent. Other than a bit more in depth view of Downtown-Chinatown and some more beach activity. They did a nice job on the hipster aspects of where I live.
Here’s a quick list of some of the places viewed and the names of the people to ask for when you get to these places:
- Hawaii Theatre: John
- Beach Vollyball: KC
- Panama Hats: Ryan
- Blue Note: Martha or Kristin
The only place, I’ve never been on their list is the Livestock Tavern. Guess I better check it out!
I liked the wording Tropical Modernism that’s a good take on our Sunny Island Paradise. And their tag line is pretty cool. City’s are Fun, Let’s Explore. See you on the Streetz!
