Designer Spot-Light: Daniel Patrick
Soho, NY & Melrose, LA
High-End Street Wear Brand, Daniel Patrick is the Hottest shop in Soho, NYC in January 2017. Streetzblog will cover the brand and store in this blog posting. Before it, here’s the ascension to that moment: I have a bit of a set program when I hit the Streets of NY each and every December. This year being no different:
Friday: Stay at the Roosevelt Hotel. Say Hi to Alfredo, Check into the hotel, Get Dressed and head Uptown. Uniqlo for warm clothes, Aldo, H&M, Saks, Sephora, See The Rockefeller Tree, Barney’s (My Fav), Bloomingdale’s and get some food from Scott’s Deli. This year I added in the new Adidas Store on 45th and 5th and a couple other cool places
Saturday: Soho no matter what! Cold-hot, Raining-Snowing. This is where I go the Saturday before Christmas. Hit the Sample sales, H&M, Pink, Opening Ceremony, the new Rick Owens spectacular store, Astor Barber, Chinatown, Coffee from the deli (Extra Sweet, Extra Light: Since I’m on Vay-Cay) Rag n Bone, Anna Sui, Alexander Wang and All Saints. I Miss Canal Jean Company, Unique Boutique, and this year DRB-One of the best places to get Christmas presents, It was gone for good-some people didn’t get their presents this year, #Ugh.
It’s a little after Alexander Wang, that I strolled upon Daniel Patrick. Come to find out the store is pretty new in Soho, so was very lucky to find it. Listed below are some pictures I took, a bit about the brand and some flavorful pictures from their IG account. Hope you enjoy seeing and hearing everything. *I’ll post up NY’s Sunday, Monday and Tuesdays itinerary at the end of the article.
Daniel Patrick-Soho, NYC: 96 Grand St. Near Mercer; close to The Alexander Wang Boutique
I left the Alexander Wang Boutique and was attempting to get to the new Rick Owens store. Over the years, the maps on my iPhone have gotten better, but I still can’t quite figure out North from South, so I went around the block 2x and saw a nice looking facade with color coded clothing from the street view. So, I entered the Daniel Patrick store in Soho. I think I was the first customer of the day. Since I live in hot weather, I went straight to the shorts. Bought a pair of the Comfy Army Lounge drop-crotch shorts. At the end of the day, I came back for the black pair of the same shorts!
The store was filled with excellent High End Streetwear. Best part about it is it was all color coded and easy to find all the great gear. Comfy Shorts, Soft to the touch shirts, Layered clothing, Bombers, and even Kicks. Me being a shoe guy, it was so weird I didn’t even notice the kicks, the clothes were so unbelievable! After visiting the Soho Store, I’ve seen some nice shoes on their instagram account.
Arriving back in Hawaii, I researched the brand a bit and Wow! There are lots of Celebs and Hot Models who wear these clothes. Kinda’ fun the way I found the store. I’ve always worn my own style, but over the years, I’ve noticed many people getting extremely attached to what they see on the web. And I wondered how much I’ve been influenced too. Something I may blog about some day. Anyways, I liked how I found the store because I totally dig the clothing with no pre bias.
Here’s some great pictures of the brand: Pictures taken from their IG account.
If there were a place to get your streetwear basics plus stay on trend Daniel Patrick is the place to shop. Like shopping at the Gap used to be and kinda still is for Norm-Core, Daniel Patrick is the place for streetwear. You get your Blacks & Greys along with the seasonal colors. Everything feels good, looks good and is totally on trend and on Fia’ for a Friday night or Saturday afternoon. –Streetzblog December 2016.
Here’s a little excerpt from the DP Bio on their website that pretty much sums it all up:
The collections draw a number of inspirations that are true to who Daniel is and this identity becomes more and more poignant from collection to collection. Drawing inspiration from his favorite cities, Los Angeles and New York, his love of hip hop music and desert hikes, while also combining his athletic background with a minimal and militant appeal each collection unfolds. Daniel is continuously creating and tweaking and is known to drop new pieces more frequently than the regular fashion calendar dictates.
My personal purchases included: 2 pairs of the Roaming Shorts (Army & Black), Orange NYC Tee, and even though I live in a warm part of the world, I had to get the Black NYC Hoodie. I wore it everywhere, including Chicago and crashed out on the plane with it on all the way from Chi-Town to Hawaii. It’s my favorite item, very comfortable, kept my warm & the hood is the perfect sizes for hiding out. Just need a pair of shades to go with it and you’ll be an instant Celeb!
A couple more pix of the women’s gear:
For more on Daniel Patrick, check them out on-line, or in Soho New York City or in Los Angeles on Melrose. Their Instagram account is pretty LIT too. If you go to the NY store say Hi to Jay and let them know Streetzblog says Hello!
I could shop there all day, my wish list includes: The black denim trousers with the zippers and holes in the knees, a Black oversize Tee, The Ink colored Layered Tee, some of the darker camo clothing and maybe even a pair of Kicks.
*And here is the rest of the usual Trip to NY itinerary: Is there anything you would add to a trip to NY? If you have something, please add it to the comments section below. I’ll be there next December right before Christmas.
Sunday: This is always brunch day with friends from NY, it’s also cultural day where I go to a museum, see a play or the Knicks or Rangers, it’s also the first time I get a solid sleep.
Monday: I see my friend who used to live in Hawaii and either have lunch or go to the Knicks game. Check out Dover Street Market/DSM on Lexington, hit up Mood and the fashion district for great fabrics and accessories to make more clothes, then head back to Soho to make sure I covered everything.
Tuesday: Pretty much sleep, Eat at the Roosevelt’s All You Can Eat Buffet (Best Bacon and Fruit in NYC) do some last-minute packing, and rest before heading to Chicago.
See you on the Streetz!
Some Friday nights I’m so worn out, I just want to hear some party tunes. Here’s some New and Old Dancin’ tracks for the Weekend. Have a nice one! Don’t forget to take a few minutes to just dance.Found this track on one of my favorite sites: Shoes-Up.com. Rome Fortune with Dance:
And of course David Bowie. This is such a fun video to not only listen to but to watch. Love some of the nifty moves from around the world.David Bowie with Let’s Dance:
When I used to have a weekly TV Show entitled XcelR8TV, we did a really funny show where Don and I played this song one more time, then one more time, then…I played it the whole half hour with me VJ’ing seriously in between. Oh it was Winners. This is Daft Punk with One More Time:
And even though it’s a Friday, what’s a Dance Party without some Saturday Night Fever. Here’s the Bee Gees with Night Fever:
A little Ancient history. One of the first shirt designs I ever made was a blank T-Shirt with black magic marker written on it saying: FRANKIE SAYS DANCE. In honor of the upcoming Zoolander2 movie. Here’s the Original version of Frankie Goes to Hollywood with Relax (Don’t do it if you want to C…)
See you on the Streetz and of course the dance floor. Cheers and Aloha!
Could this be the Song of Summer 2014?
Even though it’s only May 7, 2014. Myself and Streetzblog are calling Gisele and Bob Sinclar’s Heart of Glass, the Song of Summer or as we say on my DJ blog-This years #1 SUMMER STORMER *TM/DJSW.
Gisele hooked up with one of the hookiest producers of all time to re-make Blondie’s Heart of Glass for H&M. Ever since H&M came to Hawaii, I can’t stop writing about them. And Now, Bob Sinclar! and Gisele! Together! This deserves a blog post for sure. Gisele Super Model. Bob Sinclar Super Producer/DJ. I played the full song on my radio show this past Saturday and received many great calls and compliments. See the the Mini Ultra video of Heart of Glass here:
Watch the making of the video here:
And for my Birthday, Friday May 2nd Bob Sinclar performed for H&M right next to Walgreens in the Heart of Times Square, NYC.
If you liked Heart of Glass I’m sure you’ll ll enjoy these fun, older, extremely catchy Bob Sinclar tunes. World Hold On, What a Wonderful World and one of my favorite songs of all time Love Generation.
World Hold On:
What a Wonderful World:
I don’t really mention my music and Dj world on Streetzblog, I tend to keep that part of my world a bit on the DL. But, since Heart of Glass could be the #1 Summer Stormer of 2014, I figured I couldn’t keep my other world a secret and have you miss out on some of Bob’s older tunes. He’s been one of my favorite artists ever. One that American radio has not embraced too much, but as you can see, Bob is quite talented, popular and one of the world’s most popular best kept secrets. BTW: He’s really good friends with the biggest EDM groups of all time-Swedish House Mafia, as you can see in the middle video above, he did What a Wonderful World with Axwell.
Since I spent all my birthday money on clothes and music, I now need to go eat one of my favorite cheap foods. Savory Lemon Yellow Potatoes. Ahhh, they really are good and very inexpensive. Since I also had caffeine for the first time in weeks, I’ll keep typing and give you my recipe for this Delish meal.
Buy a Big bag of round yellow potatoes from Sam’s Club or Costco. Put them in the fridge so they last a long time. Take out 3 each time you make this dish. Slice them thinly with a sharp steak knife. Put in micro for 2 minutes. Flip potatoes, and press 2 more minutes. Take out, Pour heart healthy olive oil on them, Add lemon juice from the plastic yellow Lemon, and two small twists of Sea Salt. Put back in microwave for 45 seconds. Make sure you let them sit for a bit. Then eat the potatoes. Next up, the best part…drink the Olive Oil, Lemon, and Sea Salt mixture. It tastes just like lobster or crab or whatever you like to dip into delicious Lemon/Olive Oil/Sea Salt Sauce. Oh yeah, totally yummy and saves you money for More clothes, More clothes and More music.
Have a nice Thursday!
Meet your Summer 2014 Weekend Wear
Black Mesh Shirts without team allegiance are Hot for Summer 2014. Pictured above is the ASOS Black Mesh Long Sleeve Jersey. The first of the Meshable clothing I noticed recently. It looks nice, just wonder how it feels on the skin?
I received a $50 H&M Gift card for My Birthday, I checked out the website and found another Black Mesh Shirt. It’s on-line now. I didn’t see it in the H&M Waikiki Store. But by the time I finish writing this article, I suspect I will purchase a Black Mesh Shirt somewhere on the web, maybe it will be from H&M?
This version has a plain front with Blue stripes on the sleeves and a big number 80 on the back. Pretty nice version. Would rather it re imagined with a number 1 or a number 23. Jerry Rice is the only number 80 I can remember.
Shown Above is Another Black Mesh shirt ala Football Style. It features a Black number 76 on top of the black mesh jersey material. This Another Influence Jersey is on sale for $37.63, down from the original prize of $54.44.
Whether you enjoy your mesh without a number, a Roman numeral 9, a big white 80, or a black on black 76, the black mesh look is a HOT Streetzblog pick for Summer 2014. Note: The Black color may make it a bit warm to wear in Summer, you may want to save this look for Fall 2014. Either way, it’s a look that Rocks! See you on the streetz and hopefully at the movies this week.
Update: May 7, 2014 The look is also trending for Women as seen in the LIFUL MNML City Look Book Summer 2014.
Who Got Game?
We’re only in the first round of the 2014 NBA Play-Offs and it seems like we’ve seen 2-3 rounds already. Very thrilling start to this year’s NBA Play-Offs. Too bad the Bulls are out and the Knicks never made it. The Clippers and Warriors are both fun to watch, yet they’re playing each other in Round One. Other than those things, it’s very exciting and we just might see some pretty BIG upsets very shortly.
Checkity-Check this sizzling HOT App and Ball to get your game on!
Sometimes I can’t believe how far things have come in regards to tech and social media and how unbelievably fast this has all happened. Here’s the 94Fifty Smart Sensor Basketball and App, quite an amazing feat of technology and real world Ol’ school ball action all hooked up in one.
The 94Fifty basketball is a REAL B-Ball set up with Blue-Tooth Technology. It tracks your the speed, spin and arc of your shot. Then it sends all the Nifty-Fifty basketball info directly to your iPhone app. Available at 94fifty for $295. Even though it’s quite pricey, if it would help me shoot like Steph Curry, I’d think about getting it. Like an iPhone, I think I’ll wait until the next version comes out. (I only buy the S versions of the iPhones, they get rid of the bugs and work perfectly).
Swishes Do Come True
Another way to make it to the NBA or shoot like a star is to get the SWISH DVD’s. I don’t have the newest version of SWISH, but I have the first and second versions and I gotta’ tell you the system does work. It takes a bit of getting used to, but I can make 7 out of 10 free throws. I used to make 3-5 out of 10. And who knows if I ever get a chance to play inside, I suspect I could make 8, 9 or 10 out of 10. I’ve never tried shooting indoors since I learned the SWISH method. Note: A couple of tricks from the Vid include things that you can see Steph Curry doing including getting more of an arch on the ball, shooting the ball higher in the air, pushing the shot a bit and…for the rest I think it best to pay a bit of $ for 1, 2, or 3 of the DVD’s. Here’s a sample of SWISH 3.
Tom Norland from SWISH used to email me a pretty happening Newsletter every month. See if you can get on his list, but last I checked with him he was too busy to write it.Maybe he’s become inspired again-it’s worth checking on. See you on the streetz, or maybe I’ll see you this Thursday thru Sunday at the Hard Rock Cafe, The beach, playing some ball or at the Mall.
The Makiki Heat Hot List-Memorial Day Monday
Streetzblog “Makiki Heat” Top 8-Memorial Day Monday-2013
1. Kate Moss St. Tropez Tan: 39 Year old Kate Moss is the new star of St. Tropez Self Tanning Products. It seems like Kate Moss has either been 29 or 39 for the last 20 years, never seems to age. She is the Self Tanning products first ever face and BODY for its debut global ad campaign. I could use some self tanning products. Might protect me better from the real Sun. Yesterday I played basketball for exactly an hour, got the worst sun poisoning even with lotion on me that I couldn’t go to the beach today. Ugh! Been using Frozen blue and green gels, ibuprofen and Aspirin since last night. Finally seems to be working. Might make it to the beach by dusk.
2.Prada’s Writing Competition: Budding Blogger and writers check out the Prada Journal’s vision shaping reality writing contest. The Contest runs through June 18th and instead of 1st 2nd and 3rd place categories the company will devise a subset of style categories to choose winners. I’ll be entering a couple of things later in June, I just need to let the theme simmer a bit more, now my brain can’t quite conceptualize what to write in regards to “What Realities do our eyes give u? And how do these realities get filtered though lenses?” Then, I Hope to win a shopping spree at Prada. The Ala Moana Store sure has nice sunglasses, shoes, Messenger bags, and suits, just a little pricey and for some reason I’ve never been invited to a sale there.
3. TCA-3 Siphon-Vacuum Coffeemaker: If you like the taste of Coffee better than the Buzz of Coffee, check out this master brewmaster. It looks pretty cool and sounds like the coffee tastes pretty good, I just don’t think I’d have the patience to wait for it to brew. You can get one of these at Amazon or if you’re in NYC, check out the Blue Bottle’s backroom Siphon Bar to try a tasty treat. And this machine brings us to Makiki Heat’s Hot List number 4.
4. Breaking Bad Finale: That funky coffee maker reminded me of Walt and his Chem-Lab in Breaking Bad. For some reasons I thought the BB Finale was coming in June, but we need to wait until August 11, 2013. This will be the last season, I say this totally sarcastically “I wonder what will Happen?” You know either all of them or most of them will die or go to jail. Even though I like the show,It’s about time! How many years can you continue to make millions of dollars from Ice without getting busted or shot to the morgue.
