The Streetzblog has not missed a Rick Owens Runway review in many, many years. But I was out of town for the men’s show and the women’s show is very similar. Both Set in Rick Owens own home somewhere in Paris, France. Yes, it would be a dream to be in his home to see the fab architecture and amazing furniture. I’ve been to the NY flagship store in Soho, NY (Shout out to Eileen M). And the vibe is is truly quite extraordinary and very similar to the 2 shows set in his very own home.

The Big Question: In in Fall/Winter of 2024, will you be wearing the blow up boots? They come in multiple colors and are worn by almost all the models in both shows. Below is Model extraordinaire, Alex Consani trying them on. And below this are the 2 videos of the inflatable boots in almost every frame of the shows.

I personally drop my phone a lot, get a ton of paint on my clothes and shoes and tend to bump into walls and things on the daily. So I would be super scared I’d puncture them pretty quickly. What do you think? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section or fill out the survey below the videos with a Yah or Nay.

I suspect we shall see them in the Spring in NY, Milan and Tokyo. I rarely see Ramones or Geo Baskets in Hawaii, so doubt we will see any inflateables out here. Although, they would be super easy to blow up on Oahu, since all the ABC stores have free access to high speed pumps for your kids floaties and colossal rafts.

See you on the Streetz…blog!

I wear my Sunglasses at Night

Coachella 2016

IMG_7482
Two big weekends of Coachella 2016 have come and gone. It’s the start of the U.S.A’s Festival season and it also kicks off the Summers clothing trends. Past years have brought us lots of Flower Power, Faded Short Denim Shorts,  Crocheted Everything, and 1970’s Rock Band Shirts.

2016 brought us many pairs of various Sunglasses, most of which were worn at Night during the EDM shows. The pairs I noticed the most were Aviators with mirrored lenses in various shades of Bright Aqua, Electric Orange, Rushing Red, Vibrant Green and Sun Streaked Yellow. Mostly worn by hip, young good-looking males and females in the front rows.

*My friend, Kevin K thinks that they were given away FREE as a guerilla marketing technique. If so, they were very successful and  most likely Ray-Bans. If not, it was just the thing to do…Wear your Sunglasses at Night. Most likely a mixture of the 2, because there sure were a lot of Sunglasses worn Night and Day at Coachella 2016!

According to Polyvore the most popular fashion festival trends in 2016 are Sunglasses and Boots. Listed below are the top 10 of each:

Top 10 Sunglasses

  1. Mirrored Sunglasses
  2. Cat-Eye Sunglasses
  3. Aviator Sunglasses
  4. Rose Gold
  5. Heart-Shaped
  6. Metal Framed
  7. Half-Frame (Not quite familiar with this one)
  8. Round Metal
  9. Black Square
  10. Star Shaped

*The Colored Mirrored Aviators are what I noticed as the number 1 trend for Summer 2016.

Top 10 Boots

  1. Combat Boots (So last year or 1982)
  2. Rain Boots
  3. Suede Over the Knee Boots (Don’t even own a pair of these..LOL)
  4. Cowboy (Saw these in the office for the 1st time in 22 years)
  5. Riding
  6. Flat Ankle
  7. Cut-Out Ankle Boots
  8. Pointy-Toe Ankle
  9. Peep-Toe Ankle
  10. Hidden Wedge

*I know number one is combat boots and Docs, but I would have put them in separate categories. Going with Combat Boots at number 1 and Doc Martins at number 2.

Highlights and from Coachella 2016 Included:

Grimes:  I’ve never seen her perform before and truly enjoyed the energy, in the moment mixing, the dancing, crazy beats and what I’d call her totally own style of a music genre. Great Show!

Zedd on Saturday and Calvin Harris on Sunday with LIVE performances by the actual singers of the tunes during their DJ sets. The lights and pyro of both shows were also awesome and the homage to Daft Punk was excellent. If you’ve ever seen the Daft Punk Documentary, they show how Daft Punk paved the way to the super-star millionaire DJ of today. And the break thru moment happened when they played Coachella.

Loved it how they both played Daft Punk’s One More Time. BTW: In 2000, I had a Music TV show called XLR8TV with my Friend Don F and on our last show we played One More Time, One More Time, Then again One More Time, while I introduced it again and again without laughing..for the full half hour of the show. Was so, totally awesome!

Overall, Coachella was quite good this year; YouTube and T-Mobile did a nice job streaming it live the first weekend. It was very clear on my iPhone, a little glitchy on my MacBook Pro, but overall the best I’ve seen over the years.
The only sucky part was the G&R Reunion. Axl looked really funny on his throne and as far as I could tell they played only 3 songs on YouTube, then 1 song on someones Periscope/Twitter feed for a total of 4 songs. That doesn’t seem quite worth the millions of dollars they paid the band. But, I will say they did sound good. Clear, concise and seemed to be quite professional about the whole gig.

See you on the Streetz! This weekend at Sustainable Coastlines Clean-Up, May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii, My B-Day, The Basketball Court and hopefully Yoga and the Beach.

Here’s Corey Hart’s: Sunglasses at Night Video. Yep, I couldn’t resist it. Enjoy!

Chanel Shopping in the Super Marche

Hot Models, Chic Clothes, & Styling Shoes..Such a Wonderful way to Shop

This is such a fun runway show, I couldn’t resist posting it. For the Chanel Fall 2014 Paris Collection, Karl Lagerfeld held the show  at the Grand Palais  at the Chanel Shopping Center..a Giant Costco-Esque supermarket or as the French would say Super Marche. It’s time to stop Channel Surfing and start Chanel Shopping!

This is  a Spectacular, Tres-Chic, fun show to watch. The Highlights that really stood out for me, other than the awesome setting are:

  • The Multi-Colored oil slick sneakers (Easier to walk in while shopping than heels).
  • The just under the knee Silver chrome accented boots and later on in the show a pair of similar bronze version.
  • The small stylish metal grocery baskets. The little black CC Purse and the Luxe-Life CC necklaces and adornments.
  • The Silver-Metallic Dress. It looks a bit like Chain metal. I like that look.
  • The Over-Sized Silver and Gold Pop-Top Necklaces.
  • The Big Black Headphones.
  • The necklaces with the Giant Bicycle/Locker Padlocks dangling from them. I think I could rock one of those…
  • My favorite outfit is the grey jacket and pants with the many holes in them.  Very unexpected, yet such an excellent look.
  • And I love it in the end when the models actually shop and the one man model in the show is carrying one of the models many, many Chanel Shopping bags. So funny!

Colors included Black (of course), Some light pink ensembles, a bit of orange, a few outfits with many, many colors in them and of course the  Biggest trend for Fall 2014, the obsequious Grey Color.  Women and Men will be seeing a lot of Grey this Fall 2014 and Winter 2015. It seems to be in every show in some way shape or form. When is that 50 Shades of Grey movie coming out anyways?  The First time I checked it was November 2014, Second time I checked it was around Valentines Day 2015. Either one fits the time-table of the color grey for Fall 2014 or Winter 2015.

Hey-does anyone know why Grey is spelled Grey and other times Gray?  I don’t get it. I tend to like Grey.  Which outfit or shoes did you like the best? Did you spot any of the “Where’s Waldo” types of intricacies in the show..maybe the +50% Sale Sign? The Hefty-Bag Coat or the Little Black Tea?  The more you watch the more fun you can have with this show.  LMK what you find and let us all know in the comments section? I’m sure there is much more to find in your favorite Chanel Shopping Aisle. Jambon anyone? Have a Great Monday!
