The H&M Fall Collection Out Now
Iconic Super-Model, Naomi Campbell brings us the Fall 2017 H&M Collection. Naomi stars in the video set in Tokyo’s nightlife zone wearing many of H&M’s New looks for Fall 2017.
Tokyo is definitely one of my favourite places. For the film, I was in a dark double-breasted trouser suit and it was my favourite look from the whole collection. Personally, I would wear exactly as it was styled – the tailored blazer was buttoned up, but you could see a little skin so it was a good balance of feminine and masculine. Naomi Campbell September 21, 2017.
The Tune in the video reminds me of rap bands from the early 80’s mixed with some Scissor Sister’s vibe aka 2010.
The Fall H&M 2017 collection is available at hm.com and in stores now.
Here’s the Soul Train version of Sugarhill Gang’s Rapper’s Delight
And Scissor Sisters Fire with Fire:
Scissor Sisters have been quite quiete over the last few years. Hopefully they will come back strong with a US/Europe Tour. A good sign is this new music from MNDR x Scissor Sisters with SWERLK 2017. After 2 listens, you’ll want to hear it again. Very Catchy lyrics.
And if you’re wondering what SWERLK is, It’s: Swirling, Twirling, Twerking and Swerving and this is how you do it:
See you on the SWERLKing Streetz!
Two big weekends of Coachella 2016 have come and gone. It’s the start of the U.S.A’s Festival season and it also kicks off the Summers clothing trends. Past years have brought us lots of Flower Power, Faded Short Denim Shorts, Crocheted Everything, and 1970’s Rock Band Shirts.
2016 brought us many pairs of various Sunglasses, most of which were worn at Night during the EDM shows. The pairs I noticed the most were Aviators with mirrored lenses in various shades of Bright Aqua, Electric Orange, Rushing Red, Vibrant Green and Sun Streaked Yellow. Mostly worn by hip, young good-looking males and females in the front rows.
*My friend, Kevin K thinks that they were given away FREE as a guerilla marketing technique. If so, they were very successful and most likely Ray-Bans. If not, it was just the thing to do…Wear your Sunglasses at Night. Most likely a mixture of the 2, because there sure were a lot of Sunglasses worn Night and Day at Coachella 2016!
According to Polyvore the most popular fashion festival trends in 2016 are Sunglasses and Boots. Listed below are the top 10 of each:
Top 10 Sunglasses
- Mirrored Sunglasses
- Cat-Eye Sunglasses
- Aviator Sunglasses
- Rose Gold
- Metal Framed
- Half-Frame (Not quite familiar with this one)
- Round Metal
- Black Square
- Star Shaped
*The Colored Mirrored Aviators are what I noticed as the number 1 trend for Summer 2016.
Top 10 Boots
- Combat Boots (So last year or 1982)
- Rain Boots
- Suede Over the Knee Boots (Don’t even own a pair of these..LOL)
- Cowboy (Saw these in the office for the 1st time in 22 years)
- Flat Ankle
- Cut-Out Ankle Boots
- Pointy-Toe Ankle
- Peep-Toe Ankle
- Hidden Wedge
*I know number one is combat boots and Docs, but I would have put them in separate categories. Going with Combat Boots at number 1 and Doc Martins at number 2.
Highlights and from Coachella 2016 Included:
Grimes: I’ve never seen her perform before and truly enjoyed the energy, in the moment mixing, the dancing, crazy beats and what I’d call her totally own style of a music genre. Great Show!
Zedd on Saturday and Calvin Harris on Sunday with LIVE performances by the actual singers of the tunes during their DJ sets. The lights and pyro of both shows were also awesome and the homage to Daft Punk was excellent. If you’ve ever seen the Daft Punk Documentary, they show how Daft Punk paved the way to the super-star millionaire DJ of today. And the break thru moment happened when they played Coachella.
Loved it how they both played Daft Punk’s One More Time. BTW: In 2000, I had a Music TV show called XLR8TV with my Friend Don F and on our last show we played One More Time, One More Time, Then again One More Time, while I introduced it again and again without laughing..for the full half hour of the show. Was so, totally awesome!
Overall, Coachella was quite good this year; YouTube and T-Mobile did a nice job streaming it live the first weekend. It was very clear on my iPhone, a little glitchy on my MacBook Pro, but overall the best I’ve seen over the years.
The only sucky part was the G&R Reunion. Axl looked really funny on his throne and as far as I could tell they played only 3 songs on YouTube, then 1 song on someones Periscope/Twitter feed for a total of 4 songs. That doesn’t seem quite worth the millions of dollars they paid the band. But, I will say they did sound good. Clear, concise and seemed to be quite professional about the whole gig.
*All pictures taken with my iPhone 5s via the live streaming Video.
See you on the Streetz! This weekend at Sustainable Coastlines Clean-Up, May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii, My B-Day, The Basketball Court and hopefully Yoga and the Beach.
Here’s Corey Hart’s: Sunglasses at Night Video. Yep, I couldn’t resist it. Enjoy!
Some Friday nights I’m so worn out, I just want to hear some party tunes. Here’s some New and Old Dancin’ tracks for the Weekend. Have a nice one! Don’t forget to take a few minutes to just dance.Found this track on one of my favorite sites: Shoes-Up.com. Rome Fortune with Dance:
And of course David Bowie. This is such a fun video to not only listen to but to watch. Love some of the nifty moves from around the world.David Bowie with Let’s Dance:
When I used to have a weekly TV Show entitled XcelR8TV, we did a really funny show where Don and I played this song one more time, then one more time, then…I played it the whole half hour with me VJ’ing seriously in between. Oh it was Winners. This is Daft Punk with One More Time:
And even though it’s a Friday, what’s a Dance Party without some Saturday Night Fever. Here’s the Bee Gees with Night Fever:
A little Ancient history. One of the first shirt designs I ever made was a blank T-Shirt with black magic marker written on it saying: FRANKIE SAYS DANCE. In honor of the upcoming Zoolander2 movie. Here’s the Original version of Frankie Goes to Hollywood with Relax (Don’t do it if you want to C…)
See you on the Streetz and of course the dance floor. Cheers and Aloha!
Model 500-No UFO’s
On Friday’s, I like to post especially happy people having a good time. This Friday I found this video on a French website. It doesn’t mean it’s French. Yet, it’s fun to watch on a Friday before the weekend. Lots of people dressed up, dancing and having a good time. I don’t know much else about it, but it does have the Friday, Saturday, Sunday Vibe. Looks like it’s from the 1970’s? I’m not sure. Hopefully, it lifts your spirits for an exciting fun-filled weekend. Enjoy the dance moves and see you on the Streetz.
What’s Up Cali, Hawaii and England!
Today is full of vids from people I know and like. With Summer in full Effect, here’s a nice soundtrack to kick your day up a notch or 2. First up is Quiz ft. Alex Simone with Living for the Summer. Quiz is a bit of a sneakerhead like me, so make sure you check his kicks in the vid. (Note: I try to keep my blog pretty unexplicit, but today friends are doing the songs-And I want to hook them up with some SB exposure. So just warning you, there could be a few naughty words. Be prepared, there’s not many, but there are some).
I’m Not a Player, but I know a few.
Of course, what comes next is the OG version of the tune by Quiz. It’s Ice Cube with It Was a Good Day. Always a nice song to bang up loud when you might be feeling a little down.
Keeping in the LA vibe. Here’s Walter French with the City #LA ft. Glasses Malone and AV. If you go back to Quiz’s vid, you can see Walter doing a little cameo, sippin’ a bit of OJ from the red cup. And since we do a lot of Fashion and style posts on streetzblog. Many of you may really dig some of the outfits the ladies are wearing. I’m liking the bright colors of the clothes and especially the hats & hair. Nice, styling looking ladies.
Now back to Hawaii, it’s Kaipo Kapua with issue #9 of CAR-E-OKI with Common Kings. I can’t believe they’ve made 9 of these already. When do they sleep?
And closing the 2015 Summer Daylist-Playlist off, we head to England with one of my favorite’s of the Summer. It’s the Chemical Brothers ft Q-tip with Go. For some reason the bass line and hook on this just makes my day. Words a bit simple but the production on this will even make your computer sound like it’s been hacked by a Marshall Stack or a Beats Pill.
Have a nice week. See you on the streetz. Hoping your day is Fun and Fabulous! #rockstarliving
Spot the Stars
The video is shot at the Standard Hotel in New York, one of the favs for the fresh, fast, fun, frolicking fashion jet-set. Thus, many celebs showed up to appear in Madonna’s video. It’s another great time to play the “Where’s Waldo?” game and see who you can see in the vid. Madonna and Nicki Minaj are of course easy to notice. And my favorite is Alexander Wang the king of Health-Goth.
Who do you see? Watch and write the many names down. You can also play spot the designer brand names. At the bottom of the video are the celebs I noticed. Anyone I missed? What are the fashion brands? Or who is missing? I think it would be fun to see the OG king of the Club Kids-Michael Alig do a quick appearance. Some other notorious NY oriented people I would like to see are Chloe Sevigney, Hailey Clauson & Karlie Kloss, Macaulay Culkin, Lindsay Lohan, Sarah Jessica Parker, Marc Jacobs, Sienna Miller or the Olsen twins since they just celebrated a super elaborate Birthday party. Let us know in the comments section, who I may have missed or who you think is missing from the Video. And the designer brands you spot. Have a Nice Weekend.
Madonna of course
And if you’re wondering who Michael Alig is? or want to see more of the 1990’s Club Kids shenanigans, here’s a fairly new trailer of the latest in Retro 90’s Club Kid movies.
Car-E-Oke in the 808 State
One of my goals for 2015 is to share more blog posts on the sun, fun and culture of the place I live. It’s a goal I’ve strayed from in favor of World-Wide designer fashion, Luxe-Life kicks and other clothes and sneaker features.
Today, I take you to the center of Hawaii Culture with the first webisode of Car-e-Oke. When I woke up this morning I scanned my Instagram very quickly and saw the word Car-e-Oke. I thought it would be a good name for a singing contest promotion. It wasn’t until later in the day that I realized I knew the people responsible for the word and the post. They told me about it and I was like Oh I was gonna nab the name for a Singing Contest. (JK) So, in respect to the Young Hawaii folks, I won’t be stealing the name for a promotion and will share the vid with you on streetzblog.
This is the first webisode of Car-E-Oke featuring musician, Kiwini Vaitai interviewed and driven around town by Kaipo Kapua. Nice concept, Roses and Thorns sounds like an Island hit and don’t miss the surprise about 3/4 of the way through the video. It’s pretty funny. From the Island of Oahu, Here’s the video:
Let us know what you think in the comments section, or write your thoughts below the youtube video. If you would like more information about Young Hawaii, Kiwini Vaitai or Kaipo Kapua, email Email me anytime. See you on the Streetz of Ohau this week at Eat the Street Friday night, on the radio Saturday night and at the Beach on Sunday. Aloha!
Fifty Shades of Grey-Newest Music Video-Ellie Goulding: Love Me Like You Do
The video starts with the latest trailer from Fifty Shades of Grey, then it turns into the newest Ellie Goulding tune, Love Me Like You Do. Which actually turns out to be an extended trailer and shows even more scenes of the upcoming super hyped movie opening on February 14, 2015 (Valentine’s Day).
When the book reached staggering hype range, I did read it. That’s where sometimes books can be better than movies. I pictured 2 people way different looking than these two. I for one, for sure liked the 2 people that I saw in my imagination better than these 2. And I suspect, I’m a bit sour that no one in the Fifty Shades of Grey Streetzblog poll made the cut. Oh well, with all the hype, the movie has to be good? eh? And Big-Ups to Seattle making it to the Super Bowl and having their city featured throughout this movie. I bet tourism goes well for them in the next 8 months or so.
Did you read the Book? Are you going to the movie? Have you seen the streetzblog post from a while back, giving you way more than 50 ways to say the word Grey or is it Gray? Does anyone know the difference? I can’t even find the diff on the internet! Leave a comment down below if you like.
Charli XCX Feat. Rita Ora: Doing It
We featured Rita Ora in her Adidas wear a while back, so figured we’d post up her latest video. She’s also in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, playing the part of Mia Grey.
Check out this vid, a bit of a take-off on Thelma and Louise and their wild car ride. But what I like is the 80’s vibe, the scratchy color effects splashing across the screen, the punkish attitude, funny guys at the pool and the #RetroChic aura of Ora and Charlie in the of the production of the video. Whatcha’ think? Hit, Miss or just Fun to Watch?
See you on the streetz of Oahu this week, hopefully I make it to the Beach! Cross your fingers for me. Thanks!
