It’s Very Peri for 2022
Pantone has declared the color of 2022 as Very Peri. It’s a fusion of purple/violet with a tad of blue

Virgil Abloh’s has been using it In the latest Louis collections. Lady Gaga flaunted the exquisite Very Peri ball gown for one of the House of Gucci premieres. It looks like it’s Ariana Grandes favorite color and even Sarah Jessica Parker is getting into the color sheen

You’ll be seeing even more of the color on the Streetz since Pantone has declared it the Go to color for 2022. I’m getting a free and festive vibe from it. Let’s all do our best to make 2022s vibe of the world match the hue of the year. Party like it’s 1999 or 1976 or maybe even 2042
See you on the magical 2022 Streetz swirling in sweet colorful cotton candy, loud Techno, a tad of drum and bass, a couple teletubbies and unicorns in matching jumpsuits in Very Peri
Spring Fashion Trends 2015
March into Spring 2015
Here’s your one-stop shop for Spring Trends 2015. I wonder how they compare with the trends predicted by the Runway shows in Milan and by Streetzblog.com in July 2014?
Men’s Trends (From the H&M Spring Chic Magazine 2015) *List inspired by their list with streetzblog editorial.
Seventies Workwear: Fashionable take on 1970’s utility Styling mixed with functional fabrics like raw denim. Utilizing expert tailoring to make this trend look just as good on the weekends and at work.
Summer Neutrals: Subtle shades of beige and gray. That Beige is driving me a bit crazy, not at all a fav of mine, but even though 50 Shades of Grey didn’t live up to all the hype, the color grey is marching into Spring as the number one color.
Artistic Knits: Designers like Raf Simons and JW Anderson have updated the tank top with tapestry-like scenic landscapes. You also might want to check out your local Thailand or Tibetan shop to score some items of similar yet different aspects of this trend. If you’re going to wear a tank top, make sure you have your suntan lotion on or wear it at night. You don’t want to have that extremely funny tank top tan line, it’s just as bad as forgetting to button your fly all day.
Italian Riviera: You may have heard that the 70’s, 80’s and especially the 90’s are big now. Well, this trend takes us back to the 50’s with lightweight preppy styles including the piped polo look shirt and striped golf jackets. Now, it’s really time to find a friend with a yacht!
Premium Parkas: Tailored rather than functional. A more formal and luxurious look for Spring layered over a suit. Sounds a bit warm to me, but depends on where you may live this will work or won’t. Basically lighter, groovier jackets for spring ala Parka. If you had a Winter like most, you may not want to wear a jacket as long as you can. Me, I can’t wait to get back to NY in December to rock my Alexander Wang x H&M Scuba hoodie. I did get some good mileage out of it in NY, but gotta’ tell you if you have scuba material jackets, use them in Spring. they really are’nt meant to keep you warm in the Winter.
GQ Boot Spring Boot Trend *Info inspired by the February 2015 print issue of GQ, with additional streetzblog editorial
Made in the Suede
Dress Boots: Wing Tip or Cap-Toe. In grey, beige, brown or be a bit more daring and go with the blue or green. My favorite work shoes at the moment are’nt suede, but they are a nice deep Navy pair of hi-tip wingtips. Comfortable and go with most of work clothes and my blue watch. Whether you go leather or suede, just make sure you match your shoes with your outfit before walking out the door. It’s not too pleasant to make it all the way to work and find out you need to hide in your cube all day, because your funky blue or green boots don’t match anything you’re wearing. And even worse, getting called into the bosses office on a day like this. Be especially careful on Mondays.
Desert Boots: These look very comfortable, yet I’m still holding out from purchasing a pair. They are updated in luxe suede, fun colors, rubber soles in crazy contrasting colors. They just remind be too much of 1978, when I refused to wear them. For some reason, these just don’t scream Stylish. But if they are really comfortable, I’d give them a try. LMK if you’ve rocked them and had success?
Chelsea Boots: These crack me up, because every single season for the last decade, the trend setters are telling us to wear a pair of Chelsea boots. This time in suede. They can look pretty stylish especially when done in a wing tip brogue or a duo tone ombre. You really can’t go wrong with a Chelsea boot, they worked for everyone from the Beatles, to Lou Reed to Harry Styles. I succumbed to the hype and bought what I thought were a fairly inexpensive pair of rubberized Ferrigamo Chelsea boots in brown. But WOW, they hurt my feet worse than anything I own. Maybe the suede is the way to go. More flex. If anyone wants a pair of brown Ferrigamo Chelsea boots in size 10 LMK.
Work Boots: This is a tough choice. GQ claims not to worry and scuff them up. I have a very opposite view of suede boots. To only wear them on a perfectly great sunny day. And on a day that I wont be walking in too much dirt or rocks. For some reason, out of all the materials, I think these look best, nice and un touched. Even in a work boot. I guess that’s why I own only one pair of suede shoes. They can be hard to clean. Probably the best shoe to take to the shoe maker to trick out then a DIY project. For sure, don’t slap some gooey polish on em’.
Streetzblog Spring predictions *As seen on the streetz, the web, magazines, and in my mind.
The Dull Colored Chino: Lighter fabric, colors in bland blue, off Pink, rusty Red, Beige, and Green. These are the more comfortable chinos, they are also the kind that wrinkles easier, so don’t try and wear them 2 days in a row. Fitted, yet not too skinny and no we are not in the boxy 80’s style…yet. For some of us over a certain age, the 80’s boxy style will make you look even older even if it does come back like the Women’s Mom and Men’s jean trend. Be careful of trends. If you like the way it looks on you, wear it, no matter what we say here or you read anywhere, if you don’t feel good in your new trendy outfit, don’t bother.
Ripped Jeans: Especially for women, get the versions with the biggest holes and most rips. It’s Spring, time for some nice spring breeze to inherit your legs. And this Summer, get ready to cut them a bit above or below your knee and wear them tailored selvage or totally Mad Max ripped out of control.
The Black Motorcycle Jacket: Seems to be the must have piece for 2015.
70’s, 80’s, 90’s: Wow! It’s here that it gets confusing. Depending on what or where you read something these decades are all in. From what I can tell, 70’s are best for Coachella cool, 90’s are the it decade now, and the 80’s are fading, yet the day-glo and neons especially bright Yellow and Ultra Pink are here to stay especially for the athletic chic vibe.
Cotton Candy Hair: From Dull Pink to washed out blue. If you’ve seen it at the cotton candy stand at the fair or on the runway, this is the It color, especially for females. Guys? Are you ready to rock these fun colors? Watch out for more platinum blond shades, thanks to: Kim K and Jared Leto.
Tiny Floral Prints: Big and bold was last year’s version. This year, looks like the flare of the flowers and fauna are getting smaller. Yet still a huge hit amongst the fashion forward NBA stars.
Black, Blue and Grey: If you don’t know what to wear today or tonight. Just pick out colors from these, combine and get out of the house. These are awesome, reliable year round’ look great colors. If you want to be really on trend, go with the dull green, dull light blue or even the (yuk) beige/khaki.
Trendy a la Mode Fashion Words describing what’s now and what’s next:
Health Goth, AthLeisure, Avant-Bland, Fly-Girl, Retro-Chic, and the NoTrendTrend.
I’m thinking next blog post will be dedicated to the Health Goth look. Fun name and lots of great designers doing it. Rick Owens, HBA, Alexander Wang to name a few. See you on the Streetz.
Makiki Heat-What’s Hot Now-September 2014
No more writing on my hand!
September 2014’s Makiki Heat brings you the latest and greatest finds of our time. The first is so perfect for me. I remember back in the 80’s being called into the bosses office for being unprofessional for writing on my hands. For some reason, when I can’t remember to do something, I write it on my hand. Usually in very easy to see, indelible, black, bold sharpie ink. I did it in the 80’s and still do it now. It’s 2014 and someone has finally found a solution. Enjoy reading about the Echo Smartpen and the other 4 HOT topics for September 2014.
Top 5 for August 2014
Echo Smartpen: For 20+ years, I’ve been writing sharpie messages on my hand to remind myself of important things to do at work or to buy cat litter, which It seems, I’m continually running out and having to buy. Why don’t I type things on my iPhone, well I do, i just don’t seem to get the alert and it’s a hard habit to break out of after so many years. Along comes the Echo Smartpen from livescribe.com. Every message, drawing or even voice audio you write or say goes directly to your phone, tablet or computer. Hopefully this will be the cure for me and you and everyone around the world who may write on their hand, wall, or post it note. As of today (9/14/14) it’s a bit expensive at $120, but I suspect the price will go down soon. $120 livescribe available here.
Lokai Bracelet: My daughter found this HOT bracelet and already owns a couple of them. The first and coolest thing i noticed when she wore it was the way the light reflected off of it and gave it a mysterious glow. Later I found out that the white ball is filled with water from Mt. Everest and the Black ball has mud from the dead sea in it. According to something I read on the web, Mt. Everest is the Highest place on earth and the dead sea the Lowest. Here’s a picture of my daughter’s bracelet: (Various prices and places to purchase, Google it for the best deals of the day).

NIN The New album by Nine Inch Nails-Hesitation Marks comes out on September 3rd. Remember about 5 years ago they did the “WaveGoodbye” Tour. Well, they’re baaack, and not only is the new album out on 9/3/13, they are also on tour!

NFL The NFL season officially kicks off on Thursday September 5th with the Ravens taking on the Broncos on Thursday night Football. So far, the station (The NFL Network) that shows Thursday Night Football is free on my Oceanic Time Warner Cable. I just hope it’s still free on Thursday September 5th. Otherwise The NFL season will start on Sunday September 8th. And watch out! If you wait to watch the replay of the first Monday Night Football game of the season, it usually doesn’t work too well. They typically play two games and neither is repeated. This is mostly for people who live in Hawaii who like me watch MNF during the replay after I get off of work. Because MNF is on LIVE really early here at around 2p, then changes to 3p when the Daylight Savings Time happens. Or in the case of Hawaii and some areas of Indiana, Daylight Savings Time doesn’t really happen, things just come on TV at different times then the rest of the year.

Eyeball Jewelry Hard-Core party goers in Amsterdam are Rockin’ tiny platinum charms in their eyes. Shapes include hearts, stars, & dollar signs. This sounds a bit scary to me, but doctors are using special scissors to make a tiny hole, then slipping the very thin charms into the eye. If you want to Rock this Trend, you may need to go to Northern Europe, so far it’s not available in the US. cost is $1,100 ++. (Source: Allure-September 2013 issue)

Edible Cocktail Glasses I havent seen these in person, but the picture sure make these look tasty. They come in 3 flavors and colors. “Tangy Salty Lime”, “Tart Sour Lemon” and “Citrusy Bitter Bitters”. I bet they’d be fun to have at a party, especially if you’re the first to bite into one! $195 for a set of 48, available here from Loliware. (Source: O-August 2013 issue)

Hi End LUXE Sneakers With so, so, so many Retro Jordan releases this year, it’s hard to keep up and hard to look different. The trend I’m stuck on and watching very closely is the Luxe Sneaker wear. Hot brands to check include: Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Rick Owens & Laurent. The kicks run $700-$1,200. But, I’m saying, save a bit of $$ and be one of the only in your city wearing a pair. Instead of buying 3 pairs of Jordans, invest in one pair of LUXE kicks. And you know, some of them are much more comfortable than J’s. Especially the kicks with the buttery leather. Converse Canvas Kicks At the same time as I see the LUXE kick trend rockin’ hard. I’ve also been noticing hipsters, Rock Bands and Trendites wearing standard black and white low top Canvas Converse Kicks. Me, I can’t really wear these anymore, hurt my feet too much. But Streetzblog is here to let you know what we’re seeing as “in” and HOT at the moment and the converse canvas kicks are making a big comeback. Watch also for Early 80’s standard looking Puma, PONY, and converse one star hi-tops all making a pretty big come back. (Source: Streetzblog)

Makiki Heat-April 12, 2013
Makiki Heat on the Streetz
Dreaming of living in NYC where everything seems to be happening, I thought I bet there are people wishing they lived in Hawaii. But just don’t hear enough about the various cities in Here. So, My new Top 10 list will be called Makiki Heat. I live in Makiki and I thought Heat sounded good w/ Makiki. I need to make it clear I am not a Miami Heat fan. Bulls, Knicks, Lakers fan in that order.
Just not sure of my graphics, the first looks a bit scary. I was going for the Cool, Hip, Hype, Happening vibe and ended up with Halloween. The second..aah maybe a bit better..LMK your thoughts? I can work on it. For now, here’s what’s HOT at Streetzblog. Top 10 not necessarily from Makiki, just written in Makiki, Hip and Hot is from around the World:
-
3-D Printing
Not really printing, but machines that make you practically anything just as almost as fast as printing on a piece of paper. Big in Japan and I saw a pretty cool 3-D Printing palace open to the public just like the Kinko’s of yesteryear in NYC in DEC 2012.

Crazy Bicycle Wheel Colors
This is BIG right here, Right Now in Hawaii. I’ve seen flourescent pink wheels with orange stripping, bright lite blue bikes with Red wheels, Yellow wheels with black trim on green bikes. It’s crazy-Mostly guys riding these bikes. They look like regular bikes, just the colors are really wild!
-
D-Rose
My prediction is he will be back playing on the Bulls team during the 3rd game of the Play-Offs. I think he’s Tib’s secret weapon. Let the Bulls win all season with who they have, give them lots of confidence. Then bring Rose in during the 3rd or 4th Quarter to score 20-30 quick points. That’s What I’m saying. Look out Miami Heat, Rose is Baaaack! (Well Almost)
-
Monocle Magazine
I still like magazines and someone left a copy of Monocle at WishWashWonderland the other day. Never saw it before. But it has some great Fashion Finds, trends, and lots and lots of pages. I’d recommend it if you ever see it at the Mag Store.
-
Long Sleeve Striped Button-Down Shirts
22-35 Year old men in Downtown Honolulu are wearing long Sleeve Dress shirts this “Winter”. I’ve seen solids, stripes, not too many all whites, but for sure the trend for 2013 is traditional yet slim fitting long sleeve shirts.A lot Less Aloha wear this year and lots more standard/mainland type of work wear especially amongst the younger group of downtown office workers!
-
Sears @ Ala Moana Center
After all these years, Sears is going out of business. I don’t know where I would have bought clothes for my daughter when she was younger. Sears ALWAYS had at least two outfits that she could rock when all other stores didn’t have anything. I guess we’d be going to Forever21 nowadays. Anyway, Sears has prices so low it’s almost free. 40% off the already low sales price. Like yesterday I bought a pair of work pants. Regular $58 on sale for $39 with the 40% off they were only: $24!!! My size and good Hi-Quality! Stock is still pretty good. What I did is grabbed all the pants I could find in my exact size, then tried them all on. 3 of the 6 fit so I bought them all. Dealeo of the Week!

Crawford Park
Since this is the first top 10 of Makiki Heat, I need to include one of my favorite places in my neighborhood. It’s the basketball court near where I live. One of the best things about living in Hawaii is I can play basketball year round without worrying about snow on the court. It’s a great place to play, mainly during the morning and early afternoon. But, I warn you don’t bring your iPhone or anything too flashy. It’s been getting a bit sketchy lately. Good News is the Police drive by at least 2x when I play there. So, all is well. Just watch for the little “spy kids” they get sent by their parents to check you out, then they come over. I leave before I even see the parents!
-
Keeaumoku Seafood
Also in Makiki near my crib. Try the Ahi and Maguro Sashimi. Don’t even bother w/ rice or anything on the menu. The Ahi is always very fresh and the Maguro melts in your mouth. Oh so Ono! Tell them you want what Scott orders and $25 worth and you’ll be good to go.

Paul Van Dyk
Legendary trance DJ Paul Van Dyk is coming to Hawaii on June 7, 2013 to play at Aloha Tower Marketplace. I used to play him and his remixes back in the 90’s. “For An Angel” used to be one of my most requested songs. PVD has also worked with big names like U2, Depeche Mode, Madonna, JT, Britney Spears, & Rammstein. 18+ to party 21+ to drink. Get your tickets here.
Various Hot-Ness
First off-Man did time fly or what? The final Season of Entourage is over and so is this season of True Blood. I thought I would have time to give up my HBO for a month or two to save a few bucks. But, Wow! no ways! “How To Make it in America” Season Two Debuts next week Sunday October 2nd. When I posted their first vid for the new season I had no idea it would be here this quickly. by the looks of the Vid, it seems that Ben and Cam actually have a Store called “Crisp”, that sounds pretty quick from one pair of jeans to a store, but they must have been hustling all Summer long. If you watch the first of this year’s season LMK what you think? I know lots of people didn’t even know the show existed last year and I for one am glad its back. You can also check out Season 1 on HBO On-Demand. I’ll be watching HTMIIA live Hawaii time on twitter #howtomakeit join me if you get a chance!
Now on to various HOT-NESS. This isn’t from any website or magazine. It’s just a random list of what I’ve been noticing around town in Honolulu of what’s HOT NOW and seems to be trending.
1. Black, Flourescent Green and bright Purple
2. Shuffle Crews at Raves
3. More and more designer Kicks on HPU students than ever before. When I walk to work in the morning the HPU students used to wear lots of generic lookin’ lameness, but this year they’ve stepped up their game big time!
4. The fashion Laces: No shoelaces, Kicks with bright shoe laces and sneaks with different colored laces on the left and on the right.
5. Retro Aloha Shirts: Prints ala’ Magnum P.I and even earlier looks from the orignal Hawaii Five-0 days.
6. Watching TV on Twitter with friends and strangers
7. Red Headphone Cords: About 10 years or so ago the Hipsters on the Subway all wore the white earbuds and that told everyone that they were cool and were also rocking an iPod, not just some generic mp3 player. Soon after the white earbuds became the norm. Nowadays I’m noticing the “hipper” peeps using the red cord that comes with the Beatz By Dre Headphones. So Just so you know, the red ones mean you have a nice pair of $300 headphones and you are cool. And from the sales numbers that are huge and keep soaring, these expensive yet awesome headphones may soon become the “norm”.
8. Work Boots-Mainly Reddish Brown for this Fall..well not actually in HI yet..it took uggs about 8 years before I saw them on people in Waikiki. But I gotta include work boots because I’ve been seeing them everywhere else I look.
What are you seeing in the streetz where you live? or on the net or mags? What’s Hot Where you at? LMK
