No Football Helmut’s on the Streetz…Blog!

Helmut Lang Runway Show. Protection vs Projection. Creative Director: Peter Do. New York, NY. Friday February 09, 2024. Fall/Winter 2024-25. #NYFW

Black, Grey and Orange, the Best colors in the World! And one of my top 5 favorite brands. HL tossed in some very awesome Silk Bubble Wrap with Bulletproof enforcement’s. And secret zippers waterproof hoods and face shields for added protection against the unpredictable elements in nature and man.

I’m a sucker for baggy oversized shorts. And the new collection contains a few pairs of these to go with the Multi Ultra zippered bags and protective shoes. And Safety orange, YES! I may need to get some new gear before their every popular Surplus Sales. Below are a few snaps from the show. Enjoy New York Fashion week with “No Football Helmuts” on the Streetz…blog!

And here’s a glimpse of the new Streetzblog Shirts. Black, Orange, Purple and Grey on Black Shirts. If you have a white shirt, those are very rare prototypes. Note: All Streetzblog shirts are promo only. #notforsale For inquiries on how to get yours click Here

Ride the Asphalt Wave

STAMPD 2017 Fall/Winter Runway Show

LA based brand STAMPD brought their A game to Men’s NY Fashion Week in February 2017. The Show entitled Asphalt Wave saw the STAMPD brand bring us a very nice silver bomber, a hint of electric color with the Yellow Hoodie and a bit of a 90’s retro look to the black plaid Shirt/Black Jacket and pants.

STAMPD brought us some of the best bomber jackets of 2015 with the various renditions of the Strapped jacket. The Silver jacket keeps them in the forefront of the 3 or more year trend of the bomber.

And staying true to their roots, kept a lot of the collection with their Black & White color palette. And looks like the cropped pants will continue into late 2017, maybe even 2018 from this show and others seen at the latest Men’s NY Fashion Week. The trend I’m noticing most is a higher crop, with more bulk to the legs.

Keeping to STAMPD’s street vibe, they didn’t do the traditional Runway show. Instead the dudes stood like mannequins on the floor and the attendees could walk around them to  check out the new threads.

A bit of Graff and various textures and exotic materials added some newness to the STAMPD aesthetic.

And similar to the STAMPD/Daniel Patrick/Kanye West collections, kept the Nomadic Pre Apocalyptic street look going with this oversized layered grey piece. Probably my favorite look of the collection.

Asphalt Wave

  • As I see the title, I imagine skateboarding through the streetz of LA. With the title giving a nod to skate culture of the 90’s. Yet, the collection isn’t all 90’s so there’s most likely double meaning to the title. Asphalt gives a skater a much smoother glide than concrete. Yet waves can be smooth or pretty tumultuous. Looking way too much into the title. Maybe Chris Stamp is looking towards a hopeful Smooth 2017 with already known possibility of havoc on the way.
  • Various sites on the web are giving Asphalt Wave gives reference to the Rap and Hip Hop vibe of the 00’s.
  • Other sites mention the 90’s & the 00’s time periods.
  • Or maybe, it just sounds cool and looks rad in gothic scripted Ink on various sleeves of black long sleeve shirts and trenches.
  • Just one day (2/6/17) after I wrote this blog. STAMPD posted this  information on what Asphalt Wave means on their IG. They must have been reading Streetzblog!

Honolulu Fashion Week 2014

Fashion Fun Frantic Frenzy

Honolulu, Hawaii

Such a fun week to live in Hawaii.

Thursday Morning 5:00 a.m: Alexander Wang x H&M collaboration goes on sale on-line. 7:10 a.m 37th in line at the H&M Store in Waikiki. 8:00 a.m. Everything goes on sale.

Alexander wang x H&M 2014

The Scuba style Jacket was number one on my list and I was lucky enough to nab the only one hanging in the store.  It’s a bit big, but should be fine in NYC in December. Yes, I got caught up in the hype partially from these 2 Alexander Wang x H&M pictures. They got me good.

Thursday Night 8:00 p.m: Jimmy Choo Waikiki Grand Opening Celebration. Attendees dressed up beyond anything I’ve ever seen in Hawaii. The ladies were  all in very colorful Versace, Valentino, Calvin Klein and many other designer name brands. With bags from Louis Vuitton, Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Coach, and  Prada.  Beverages and Food included: Comp Martinis and Champagne with Asparagus/Gruyère Canapes.  Good thing it was too busy to shop, I really don’t need any more kicks at the moment. And I’m on one of those shopping fasts until 12/17/14.

Friday Night 5:30 p.m:  A big goal for me and maybe for you is to get to NY Fashion week sometime. This year, Honolulu did  a Honolulu Fashion Week. So, I signed up to volunteer. On Friday night, I was one of the Ushers at the Art of Fashion: The Best of Neiman Marcus and the Kini and Dinko Spring Summer 2015 Runway Shows. It was quite fun, I helped people find their seats, saw many people I haven’t seen in years, met some new friends, saw a bunch of people I only see on Social Media and got to see both shows up close and personal. Here’s some pictures from the Runway Show: The Art of Fashion: The Best of Neiman Marcus. These are courtesy of Matt a fellow usher who knows how to take a nice picture.

And Wow! This cracks me up. Every time I watch a Runway Show on the internet I can’t believe how many people use their phones to take pictures from the front rows of the shows. And guess what? I used my iPhone 5s to take pictures of the 2 Runways shows. In one respect the shows were so good, I’d love to share some real pictures of the exquisite designs. In another, some of these are pretty trippy. I didn’t filter or edit any of them and the models some how look like ghosts or like their image was taken away via Photoshop and replaced by WHITE. Let’s just categorize them as art and that should work.

Super nice post show festivities included the opportunity to get a picture with Kini Zamora.  Kini is from Kapolei, HI, He did extremely well at Project Runway Season 13 and along with Dinko Satto, he designed and produced the Kini and Dinko Fashion line. The collection was very good. Sporty-Chic, utilizing similar scuba style neoprene as Alexander Wang x H&M. Also had some other nice fabrics, vibrant whites with blacks, and exquisite draping. And to my surprise, Kini and Dinko had both Men’s and Women’s clothing. I’m sure you can find some nice pictures from the show by Googling Kini and Dinko Hawaii 2014. There were many pro photographers at the show.

There’s only 3 of these Hawaiian Airlines bags in existence and Cora and I sure had fun fighting over it. Note: Of course we gave it back to the owners. They were really nice and took the pictures.

Pretty in Pink-streetzblog

The Pre-Show Wait. Pretty in Pink. Rock Star Style

Last year at this time of year, I dreamed of being invited to New York Fashion Week to blog about the Styles. This year, of course I still want to dream of going there for Fashion Week. Although, since I’ve learned so much over the last year digitally, I was very close to being there without actually being there. I was able to watch the Marc by Jacobs Runway show live on my iPhone and capture photos as if I was there. Best parts about this, is I didn’t need to wear a warm coat or battle it out with all the other bloggers  for a good camera shot.  Thank You Marc Jacobs for playing the Fashion Show Live, I had a great time watching the show, listening to the music and taking pictures of all the  colorful new  clothes.

The Pre-Show

MJ Cameras-streetzblog

Look at all the People with cameras!!!

Sooo many people with cameras. WOW! The Gallery you’re about to see is all the Pre Show hype. See the girls looking at their phones? Some people socializing and probably the best two pictures-Marc Jacobs himself! in the crowd talking to the fans and the press. I had a pretty nice vantage point to get him in the pre show pictorial-Sweet!

The Show-Part One

It was pretty interesting to watch what happens at a NY Fashion Week show prior to the Show.  As you noticed, some people socialized, others checked out their phones, and I did notice some nice black bags that were probably filled with some nice Swag. Next up will be a TON of pictures of the actual Fashion Show. The Show goes from start to finish. I took a lot of nice pictures of the new bags, tried to get some nice shoe shots and of course nabbed a bunch of the stylish colorful new out fits for F/W 2014.  Some stripes, some plaids, some bright colors, some daring handkerchiefs over the mouth, and I do notice a bit of a “Divergent” vibe with the pigtails and look of the un smiling models. Very interesting. I also notice a lot of grey..maybe getting ready for the Big movie “Fifty Shades of Grey?” I hope you enjoy the Show, it took me a pretty long time to put it together. A lot of uploading and downloading.  I’m sure there must be an easier way to do it, maybe by the next Fashion Week, I’ll figure it out. For now, ENJOY the show!

The Show-Part Two

The next portion we will see some more color and the handkerchiefs I mentioned earlier, along with some more scowling youthful faces and some more pigtails. Once Again, bringing us that post apocalyptic  look of oppression, style, money and women’s power.   I hope you enjoy Part Two of the Marc by Marc Jacobs F/W 2014 Runway Fashion show. Personally I liked part two the best. The fierce looks, The Hunger Games vs Divergent theme, the red pigtails, the fantastic colors along with more shades of grey.

The Finale, The designers and the crowd goes back out to the Snow

Here we see the full line-up of the designs, the designers and finally a few pictures of how very quickly everyone gets up to go.  Me personally, I would probably sit and savor the moment. But, maybe everyone is on their way to the next show?  Here’s the finale.

You can purchase Marc by Marc Jacobs clothes, shoes, and accessories here. And my parting shot, is one of my favorite pairs of Kicks that I own. Marc Jacobs Brown/Gold Patent Leather kicks from 2013.
