The New D Rose 4 “Chicago Nightfall”
Derrick Rose is Back in action for the 2013-14 NBA Season. He’s already given Chicago a blast of excitement with a swishing floater with less than 6 seconds left to beat the Knicks 82-81 on Halloween. This week he has a slight set back with a sore hamstring, but he’ll be around this season to light it up in Chicagoland.
The new Adidas D Rose 4 Sneaker’s newest colorway Rocks the City of Chicago with accents of the City. Including the purple that represents the twilight sky soaring above Lake Michigan. Growing up in Chicago, I know this color very well, It wasn’t quite this bright when I lived there, but it sure was a sweet combination of purplish, grey toned Black. This color is embedded in my memory bank for the rest of my life. Nice how they Adidas designed these kicks with the sky-line in mind.
Also notice the purple, white, yellow and aqua accents in the lining representing Chicago’s City Lights or as someone who grew up in Chicago, the Summer hues that allowed us to play B-Ball into the night.
If I wasn’t on my annual October 1-December 18, no new kicks/no new clothes buying Time-Out, I would consider picking up a pair of these joints. I’ll just have to see what’s brewing in NYC on December 18 and Chicago on December 23rd. I so can’t wait until my self-imposed no new kicks no new clothes Time-Out is done. Sky High Kicks
How and Why are those kicks up there?
Have you ever wondered Why you see shoes up on the power lines? This Video explains the oh so MANY reasons why kicks are in the sky. Where I live near Cartwright Park on Oahu,Hawaii I’ve never seen sneakers on the lines, I’ve seen them on shirts, a couple of times in L.A and Once in NYC. But, never in my neighborhood. I bet I start seeing them after more people see this vid and check out all the Shoe/Kick/Sneaker FITI sites out there. Do you have Kicks hanging in the sky where you live? If so, why are they there?
Now, I’m going to look for the video on how to best throw my kicks around the Line. Looks like it would take some skill, especially for those power lines many feet up in the sky. NIN The New album by Nine Inch Nails-Hesitation Marks comes out on September 3rd. Remember about 5 years ago they did the “WaveGoodbye” Tour. Well, they’re baaack, and not only is the new album out on 9/3/13, they are also on tour!

NFL The NFL season officially kicks off on Thursday September 5th with the Ravens taking on the Broncos on Thursday night Football. So far, the station (The NFL Network) that shows Thursday Night Football is free on my Oceanic Time Warner Cable. I just hope it’s still free on Thursday September 5th. Otherwise The NFL season will start on Sunday September 8th. And watch out! If you wait to watch the replay of the first Monday Night Football game of the season, it usually doesn’t work too well. They typically play two games and neither is repeated. This is mostly for people who live in Hawaii who like me watch MNF during the replay after I get off of work. Because MNF is on LIVE really early here at around 2p, then changes to 3p when the Daylight Savings Time happens. Or in the case of Hawaii and some areas of Indiana, Daylight Savings Time doesn’t really happen, things just come on TV at different times then the rest of the year.

Eyeball Jewelry Hard-Core party goers in Amsterdam are Rockin’ tiny platinum charms in their eyes. Shapes include hearts, stars, & dollar signs. This sounds a bit scary to me, but doctors are using special scissors to make a tiny hole, then slipping the very thin charms into the eye. They come in 3 flavors and colors. “Tangy Salty Lime”, “Tart Sour Lemon” and “Citrusy Bitter Bitters”. Hi End LUXE Sneakers With so, so, so many Retro Jordan releases this year, it’s hard to keep up and hard to look different. The trend I’m stuck on and watching very closely is the Luxe Sneaker wear. Hot brands to check include: Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Rick Owens & Laurent. The kicks run $700-$1,200. But, I’m saying, save a bit of $$ and be one of the only in your city wearing a pair. Instead of buying 3 pairs of Jordans, invest in one pair of LUXE kicks. And you know, some of them are much more comfortable than J’s. Especially the kicks with the buttery leather. Converse Canvas Kicks At the same time as I see the LUXE kick trend rockin’ hard. I’ve also been noticing hipsters, Rock Bands and Trendites wearing standard black and white low top Canvas Converse Kicks. Me, I can’t really wear these anymore, hurt my feet too much. But Streetzblog is here to let you know what we’re seeing as “in” and HOT at the moment and the converse canvas kicks are making a big comeback. Just Don’t Do It
These Kicks are Just not Right!
You Won’t see me Rockin’ these..EVER!
This is probably the first pair of Air Jordan’s I would not wear even if they were FREE! What’s going on here? The shoe on the left is in the Phoenix Suns colorway and the Pair on the Right is in the Seattle Supersonics colorway. The title of this release is the “Formidable Foes Pack”, meaning two teams that played the Bulls in the Play-Offs.
Me, being a Jordan Fan and a Bulls fan there is now way I would want to wear these. Who Would? Would you? And if they made these, where are the HATED Detroit Pistons colorway. That was the Bulls most “Formidable Foe” & the hardest to get past to get to the Bulls goals foe..fer sure.
Although, full disclosure on my end, I would Rock the Jordan 11 “Knicks” Colorway, but they are pretty expensive. My favorite colors are Orange and Blue together and the best place to watch a B-Ball Game int he entire world is Mad Square Garden. But Suns and Supersonics..I don’t think so. I wonder who is going to buy these? Not Bulls fans, and I bet the Sonics and Suns fans still dislike Mr. Air Jordan for messing up all their hopes and dreams. So, I don’t see them wearing them either.
Pretty strange colorways. At least for me.

On another Jordan note, check these all Red Air Jordan 3’s that JT has been rockin’ during the Legends of Summer Tour! According to Hip Hop wired he wears them and also gives them away at shows. That’s some major JUICE to have your own pair of kicks that you wear & giveaway to fans. I don’t even think you can buy em’ anywhere but Ebay. Now these are HOT!

This Sneakerhead named Franalations has 800 pairs of Kicks. How many shoes does one person need? It’s just way too out of hand and foot for me to conceptualize. Although I am jealous of all those J’s. I thought 80 pairs was too many and I’m not quite there yet. LMK how many pairs of kicks you think are too many or just right? One of my really good friends emailed me the other day and said he was in Tokyo, I immediately said “Get me some street clothes magz and stop by Vanquish in Shibuya”. That BTW is what I always tell people who go to Japan. This friend actually went to Vanquish..I still dont know about the magazines, but these pix are awesome! I feel like I went there myself.

Ever since I saw those patent leather Hi-top Brogues from Vanquish I have wanted to go to Japan just to go to this store! I even took 8 weeks of Japanese class in preparation for my future trip.

I dig these multi colored Adidas x Jeremy Scott Kicks. I suspect you can find them at barneys.com, but it’s much more fun seeing them at the Vanquish store in Shibuya. Here’s the New trailer for The Great Gatsby starring Leonardo DiCaprio(Blood Diamond, Basketball Diaries & of course Titanic), Carey Mulligan (Wall Street, Public Enemies) Tobey Maguire(Spiderman), Isla Fisher (Wedding Crashers&London) and Joel Edgerton (Zero Dark 30, Smokin’ Aces & Warrior). The newest trailer features quick snippets of some new music by Beyonce, Andre 3000 and Florence + The Machine. And BIG rumours that Jay-Z will be hitting us up with a new track for the film!
My sister was reading this book back in November 2012, I borrowed it at the beach a couple of times, but for some reason it really was confusing to me. By the looks of the trailer that confusion will turn into #goodtimes. And I say pretty much any movie with Leonardo in it tends to ROCK!. So, I’ll be there May 10th for the first showing. Looks and sounds good and check out the Mansion they live in!! Wowza!

Just this past Thursday night March 7, 2013, I was flipping thru the TV channels with nothing to watch when I stumbled upon a channel I didn’t know existed and was able to watch Spike Lee’s New York B-ballin’ movie-He Got Game. I haven’t seen that movie since 1998 when it first came out, then maybe again in 2001. I do like the movie, I just forgot all about it in the digital world until this past Thursday.
During the movie, Denzel Washington/Jake Shuttlesworth has a classic game of B-Ball against his much younger and fitter Son-Ray Allen/Jesus Shuttlesworth. Denzel with major tape on his knees pops a few in and puts on a good show against Jake, mostly I would say “because he’s got the shoes”, he’s wearing a pair of black and white Jordan 13’s. During the movie and especially during their game of 1 on 1, I was wondering when those kicks were retro’d. Also wondered if they ever came out? I for some reason didn’t recognize the colorway. But because of Denzel’s stellar performance in the game I wanted to get a pair to try out on the courts, to see if I could play like Denzel against the younger players over where I play ball. (My right knee hurts too!)
But when did they come out? Come to find out from just a click or two on Google, these Kicks release THIS Saturday March 16, 2013 at the Nike Store and Jordan Brand retailers. ($170) And yes they did come out in November of 1997. But don’t think they’ve ever been retro’d in this colorway.
I don’t know about you, but I’m thinking “They showed that movie on purpose this past Thursday, because Nike gave the TV Station a few bucks to show the movie with the shoes in it right before they hit the Stores”. Coince-A-Dinky?
Or maybe, I’m just a little paranoid because I’ve been reading forward thought leader William Gibson’s book, “Zero History”. I haven’t finished the book yet, but a general theme in it is “Marketing Fashions to people thru various underground and unorthodox methods”. I think that Nike-Air Jordan, utilizing the TV station and the movie He Got Game NABBED me spot on this week! I saw the shoes on an OLD movie last week and they are coming out THIS Saturday! “Say What?”

Interesting Trivia from IMDb on this scene. In the Original script Jesus was supposed to beat Jake 15-0, but Spike Lee asked the two actors to play as if the game was real. The film’s footage and scoring comes from the actual game played between Denzel Washington and Ray Allen. Good choice! If Jake lost 15-0, I sure would NOT want to wear those shoes! I’d want Ray Allen’s kicks, but those aren’t even Jordans, so prob neither.
Hello to the Melo 9’s
Carmelo M9 x Dave White -Tea For Two-London, England
I was wondering where this year’s fun and exciting Carmelo Anthony Video was just last week. And low and behold, here it is. A bit different from October 2011’s Helicopter jump into the Hudson, but still slick, fun and on point.
I like the 24 Karat Gold Leafe on the stars and the London/NYC Vibe. I just think this may be the first year I pass on the Melo’s. I saw them on-line and wasn’t so sure about them, then went to the store to see them in person. They have a Christmas Ribbon running through holes in the kicks. I seriously don’t get it, I don’t like holes in my shoes and I sure don’t want rubbery Christmas Ribbons holding them together.
I’m hoping they do a Melo M9 Update or The M9.5 minus the holes and ribbons, because the colors are HOT, the marketing is excellent, Melo’s one of my favorite players and last year’s Melo’s were the first Nike’s in years that didn’t hurt my (wide) feet.
Congrats to Melo for breaking the #Knicks franchise record of 30 str8t games with 20+ points. Thanks to Melo for playing against the Nets when I was in NYC and beating them. I was just a tad worried he may not play that day because he hurt is ankle a few days before it. And Carmelo has my vote for MVP for 2013 for his play, the fact that the Knicks are finally winning this year and last, and his excellent shooting..just not this year’s shoes. Good the MVP vote isn’t based on the kicks. What do you think about the Melo 9’s?
Studs and Spikes Forever!
Studs&Spikes are Everywhere..Well almost..
When I was in NYC in December the biggest trend I noticed the most was the influx of Spikes and then Studs. I had heard from my friend at broke2gear that Spikes were big in Japan back in October, but didn’t quite realize how big they were in NYC. The Shoes had spikes, the jackets had spikes, Pants were spiked, even the newest SnapBacks were either spiked or studded.
I noticed the spikes the most since this was more different from I was used to, the studs I used to have back in the early 80’s but not on my clothes, me and most of my friends had basic black leather bracelets with silver studs and sometimes silver spikes on them. The Gals mostly had the spikes, since it was hard to get into Club 3-D with spikes on your jacket or wrist if you were a guy. They were pretty lethal when the mosh pit got going.
I usually get out of the cab as Astor And Broadway in NYC and walk str8t down the street. The first things I saw were studs and spikes on people’s shoes, then I spotted many shoes in the stores with them on in silver, Gold and copper. Next I saw a couple of jackets on people with long rubbery black spikes and even the FIT museum had Spikes on the Thom Browne Ivy League gear.
that’s what I like about being in Manhattan, I can actually see if something is real or just in the magazines or on a mocked up website. This Trend was real and I’m not sure but it seemed to be peaking and heading to the suburbs since I did see a bunch of sales on lots of the Spiked and Studded Shoes. But since looking around Hawaii a bit this past weekend, I didn’t see much of the trend here, so I know it still has a lot of growth. Even the Girl at Claire’s said she “wasnt selling too many spiked or studded gear and if she did it was to the more progressive group of teen fashionistas”.
So, let’s take a look at some of the fun Spiked and Studded Gear being worn and displayed around the world:
Now Here’s a prime example of lots and lots of silver spikes, I doubt this would play well in Hawaii, but would probably wear quite well in Manhattan. It’s a DERYCK TODD Diamond Dogs Hat. $276 at Patricia Field NYC.

Next up is a pair of Studded STUDmuffin Sweatpants. I kinda’ like these especially the fact that they have pockets. I just can’t tell if there are spikes on the back, I suspect not, that would seem pretty ouchy. But I do like the casual yet Hi-Fashion Street Vibe they give off. I think I could pull these off at an Industrial Dance DJ gig when I spin-out as Sniper Wells-Or I may chicken out, now I don’t own a pair so it doesn’t matter. I do like the fact that they are shorts and could work in HI. I think you can also get these from Patricia Field NYC also, but I think you need to put a special order in, then they make them for you. Hey- Did I mention they have pockets? I digress a bit, but for button down work shirts, I always buy the shirts with the pocket on the left for my iPhone and when I buy shorts I always get them with pockets and this may sound funny, but I need them to be deep pockets or I wont buy them. I had one pair of shorts without pockets that I tried to wear 2x but I locked myself out of my car, forgot my wallet in my back pack and generally couldn’t stay organized. And if the pockets arent deep enough everything spills all over my car and that just Does NOT work for me. Now, Here’s the picture:
Hey Nice Spikes and hope those pockets hold a lot of goodies! Not Digging the Meggings or leg warmers and I’d for sure wear Black with white soled Hi-Top Grenson Fred Brogues with these.

First off a pair of for Women. If I was female, I would for sure want to rock these! And since I’m not a lady, I would for sure date a women who wore these. Made of Nice Solid strong bright steel, with Silver Zippers and a rich Purple sole. I don’t usually get too excited about women’s Kicks, But I do recommend these spiketacular 1:00AM fashion pieces. Would look nice with a purple accented black dress cut just below the knee with some dangling bright silver skull earrings!
