Festival Season Heats Up in Chicago
The Belmont-Sheffield Music Festival
Very near the Belmont El Stop Sunday May 2018
Heading to Chicago from Memorial Day to Labor Day? I’d suggest checking out one or more of the vast Street Fests in and around town. Some of the Bigger events include the Taste of Chicago, Lallapalooza, Mole De Mayo, The Great American Lobster Fest, Chicago House Music Festival, Many Greek Fests, The Chicago Blues Fest, Ribfest Chicago, The Grant Park Music Fest and the various neighborhood Street parties.
Streetzblog checked out the Belmont-Sheffield Music Festival on Sunday May 26, 2018 From 7:30-9:45pm. It’s located just below the Belmont Street El Station. You get off the train walk across the street and there’s the fest. Super easy, very safe, extremely accessible and costs just $5 to get in.
The Street Party had a vast array of ethnically diverse things to eat and drink. Lobster, Lumpia, Lamb Burgers, Potato pancakes, Cheese curds, Fried Twinkies, Vegan delights, Sausages, Loaded Fries, Beer and even Pina Colada’s.
When I was there, one stage had a DJ and a colorful skit, while the other stage played spot on-in tune cover music.
In between the 2 stages were food booths along with many mini pop ups of T-Shirts, Jewelry, Sunglasses, various art projects along with some sponsors passing out pretty cool free gear and gadgets. I scored a free pair of Sunnys along with a couple flashlights. And Bought a few pairs. Who can pass up, Buy ONE for $20, get TWO FREE? Haha, yep got me good. But I gotta say I do look pretty fly in the Prado’s.
Some notable shirts included Psychologist with the ologist letters crossed out, the Brightly colored Lincoln shirts, Some nice Chicago shirts for $10, and a shirt with: I’m as Happy as a Duck with Bread boldly written across the front.
Did I mention Lemonade! OMG it was so tasty!! Lemonade has to be one of my favorite Summertime drinks and this was pretty amazing.
It was a very friendly group of fest attendees, not rowdy, very chill, with a nice mid western happy party vibe. Music was great, Journey & J Giles covers were heard from the bands. And the DJ played some Daft Punk, Chicago House along with some classic Dance tracks. The DJ music was sponsored by club Berlin, so it was pretty high calibre spinning.
The Belmont-Sheffield Music Festival happens Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. It rates 5 out of 5 stars. And Pro tip: There’s a Liquor store next door and across the street is a CVS with lots of ice cold water and more cheap drinks. Lots of easy ways to pre party prior to going in our picking up something cold for the trip home on the El Train.
Here’s one of my favorite pictures that sums the party up in one image. I call it Happiness.

Style Watch-Chicago Cubs Game Gear
The Unofficial Official Game Gear for a Chicago Cubs Game
Norm-Core/Suburban Chic Females
Many females in Chicago-land wear their uniform almost daily. Black leggings, shirt or hoodie from PINK and Brown Uggs. Some call it Norm-Core or Suburban Chic. Most call it their daily clothes.
Norm-Core/Suburban-Chic/Preppy-Jock/Yuppy-Wanabe Males
For guys it would usually be Jeans, T shirt or Polo shirt, Jordan’s or Ultra Boosts. Not much Off-White or Fear of God to be seen. Just a few pockets of peeps here and there.
Most men and Women of Chicago dress alike. Especially in the North Suburbs.

Sushi Fake-Out
The Vegan Sushi
This picture of Sushi may look like an Ahi Nigiri, but it’s not! It’s actually a tomato, along with sushi rice, a bit of seaweed and shoyu. Could of…and did FOOL ME. Wow! Looks just like Ahi!
I have yet to try it. But they say that the texture and flavor of the tomato are transformed through a special technique, providing a savory and meaty taste. Five natural ingredients are added to the tomato to give it the special look, feel and taste.
It’s a vegan Nigiri. It’s name is Ahimi, by Ocean Hugger Foods. Available now at Whole Foods. Next time I go to Whole Foods, I’ll give it a try and let you know how it tastes.
Have you tried it?

This Weeks Kicks in Vids
Kicks in Vids
In Julia Michaels feat. Trippie Redd – Jump Video we see some nice triple stacked Adidas. Not sure if they are for sale or the NFRS?
Royce da 5’9 – Caterpillar feat Eminem, King Green – When Eminem FINALLY raps, he’s wearing the ultra high top AF1’s. Em’s always been a big Nike fan. Usually rockin’ the latest gear. Including his very own Jordan’s which go for 4k+.
The Vid’s pretty fun the way Eminem just stand there not moving. But when he comes on..Whoah! BAM, It’s on! (BTW: I can’t hear all the words but pretty sure it’s R Rated).
Dua Lipa’s – Blow Your Mind-Has 2018’s streetwear meets High Street on Fit. From Layers, to camo to slouch jacket, modernized Bombers to Big Jewels. It’s all in here. The only thing missing are the Triple S Balenciaga’s. They would have matched up nicely on Dua. Bonus: Banging, Ultra Catchy Hook on the Vid!
Drake-God’s Plan – We can’t leave you without playing this. It’s got to be the Biggest song of 2018. Even thought it’s now only May 2018. It already has 485,502,568 Views on YouTube! In regards to Kicks,I’m pretty sure I see some Triple S Balenciag’s in this vid. And you can see many alliterations of Jordan’s both Real and possibly some #realfake. Drake is donning Nike head to toe 100%. Rumor has it he is going to the dark side or Bright side (Adidas) Find it hard to believe since he’s such a big NIKE fan. There must be a story to this disfacuation from Nike. As of today, he’s still with Nike. But his logo has been coming and going on the new Jordan Raptors Kicks. So, we shall see if he stays or if he goes. Enjoy the Vid.
Enjoy the Weekend! See you on the Streetz!
#RealFake
Everything is Real
There’s 5 Diamonds in my 2 ears. Some are Cubic Zirconia’s, some are Diamonds. When people ask if they are real, I always reply-Yes. Because they are real…earrings. They’ve been in my ears for so many years, I couldn’t tell you which are the Real and which are the Fake.
What is Fake
When it comes to Kicks and Clothes. It gets harder to tell which are the Real and Which are the Fake. When you walk into the Opening Ceremony store in Soho, NY and 90% of the people are wearing very rare Yeezy’s and stacked Balanciaga’s. You wonder which are the Real? Which are the Fake? They didn’t make that many of the Yeezy’s for them all to be real. But, very hard to tell which are which as you walk around the store. The buyers at Flight Club or Stadium Goods would know which are which. Me, they all looked pretty real.
What the Fake?
I own a pair of Jordan 1 Royals. Paid what I thought was a fair price for a limited run. I thought the store was legit when I went to the brick & mortar. But, have seen the same store on IG stories selling very Fake looking Kicks. So, I don’t know? Might be real, might be fake. Sure hope for $240 they are real.
Fake is Fake
I saw this video below a few months ago about Korea’s fake Fashion scene. Asked a friend going there to get me a couple of Supreme shirts in XXL. Knew that they were going to be Real-Fake’s, but figured, let’s see what it’s like. Got the XXL because I figured they would shrink to an XL. The XXL’s were more like L’s, so they shrunk to M’s. And the logos were rubberized. In this case, the Fakes were very Fake. I may wear the black one a few more times. The Grey will most likely go to my friend’s store. I’ll tell him not to price it too high. But, whoever buys it. What will they say? Real? Fake? or #RealFake
Real is Real
I do own a couple of awesome Rick Owens pieces that I personally bought in their Soho, NY location. Both pieces are of extraordinary quality. They are as real as real can be. But, I owe a bit of cash on my credit card. They are very real and so is my Credit Card bill. I wore the kicks once and the pants are too nice to wear. In this case Real is very nice, very real, but should I have gotten the 2 items. Probably not. Cause, now I’m real #broke.
Conclusion
Hmm. I believe first and foremost in supporting the original designers. With that said, I think a mixture of Real & Fake is ok, kinda’ like the earrings in my ears. 80% Real 20% Fake works for me. The worst thing is spending big bucks on something you think is Real, but it is actually Fake. Thoughts? Let us know in the comments section?
