HI for PI
Typhoon Haiyan, One of the Largest storms ever recorded caused massive devastation in the Philippines on Friday November 8. 2013. Sustained winds were 195 mph with gusts reaching 235 mph. As of 11/15/13, Per U.S.A Today’s Research Department, there are 11.5 Million People affected by this storm. The Island I live on in Hawaii has a varied mix of cultures and ethnicities including a very large Philippino community. Streetzblog is doing our first outreach program, since we write about Kicks and fashion the most here, we figured we’d do a shirt design and deliver a couple of checks to the disaster relief efforts.
Streetzblog has teamed up with CityStars Apparel to help raise funds for relief efforts in the Philippines. We have created the HI for PI (Hawaii for the Philippines) shirt in limited Edition White. We will donate half of the money to the Red Cross and the other half to UNICEF to help the children affected by this devastating event. If the white shirts sell out, we will make another color. If we only sell the white ones, we will send a check to the Red Cross and another to UNICEF. Get a shirt or 2, so we can make lots of colors and send lots of money to the cause. (I’d like to do White, Black, Red, then Yellow) Although, I’d be happy with any efforts we do achieve. This isn’t the first time I’ve made some shirts, just the first time, I’ve done them for relief efforts. Here’s a nice picture of the front of the shirts:
Shirts have been produced (11/22/13) and are ready to mail or deliver to you. If you live on Oahu, Hawaii, you can call me at (808) 479-9928 and I can get you a shirt for $20. If you want to order one anywhere in the world just go to CityStarsApparel.com (There may be a little extra for shipping dependant on where you live). Here’s a nice picture of the Back of the shirts:

Get your Hunger Games Groove on at Net-A-Porter
Catching Fire Opens this Friday November 22, 2013 and it’s looking like another hit movie. The story is already a good one and the graphics and CG effects not seen in the first, will be seen in full glory for Catching Fire. Get ready for the clothes to crank it up a couple notches. They will be even more outrageous than the first movie, especially in the Capitol City. Effie even wears a lavender ensemble straight out of Alexander McQueen’s 2012 Collection and get ready to see her in this Classic orange and green Alexander McQueen dress she wears during the Reaping .
Check this out! Trish Summerville who collaborated with H&M and the The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo back in 2011, is at it again, this time teaming up with Catching Fire and Net-A-Porter. Beginning this Thursday November 21, 2013, you can get your Hunger Games Groove on with the exclusive Capitol Couture collection. There will be 16 luxury pieces of Clothing, jewelry and laser cut leather goods all based on the Catching Fire’s Fashion Forward looks.
Get ready to get on-line later this week, I suspect but don’t know for sure that these clothes will be limited in some way, shape or form. At least we’ll have a fair opportunity to nab them, the only way to get them is on-line at NET-A-PORTER.
Living in Hawaii, I wonder if someone will be selling the Wet-Suits they wear in the movie? Those look pretty slick!
The New D Rose 4 “Chicago Nightfall”
Derrick Rose is Back in action for the 2013-14 NBA Season. He’s already given Chicago a blast of excitement with a swishing floater with less than 6 seconds left to beat the Knicks 82-81 on Halloween. This week he has a slight set back with a sore hamstring, but he’ll be around this season to light it up in Chicagoland.
The new Adidas D Rose 4 Sneaker’s newest colorway Rocks the City of Chicago with accents of the City. Including the purple that represents the twilight sky soaring above Lake Michigan. Growing up in Chicago, I know this color very well, It wasn’t quite this bright when I lived there, but it sure was a sweet combination of purplish, grey toned Black. This color is embedded in my memory bank for the rest of my life. Nice how they Adidas designed these kicks with the sky-line in mind.
Also notice the purple, white, yellow and aqua accents in the lining representing Chicago’s City Lights or as someone who grew up in Chicago, the Summer hues that allowed us to play B-Ball into the night.
If I wasn’t on my annual October 1-December 18, no new kicks/no new clothes buying Time-Out, I would consider picking up a pair of these joints. I’ll just have to see what’s brewing in NYC on December 18 and Chicago on December 23rd. I so can’t wait until my self-imposed no new kicks no new clothes Time-Out is done. For the rest of you, the “Chicago Nightfall” drop on November 21, 2013.
