Friday’s Best-June 2013

Hot on the Streetz

I’m not quite sure where I found this clip, it was in one of my drafts on my blog’s dashboard.  Although, I do know why I saved it.  It’s extremely stylish, classy and has a totally crisp, cool, fashionista vibe to it. And check out the cameo of James Franco and Anna Wintour! (Note: A couple weeks after I wrote this blog I found out that James Franco is actually the producer of this movie entitled “The Director”) Gucci is a store I’ve wandered through for at least 15 years, but at the Honolulu store all they seem to have are size smalls & mediums, so it’s one store I’ve never bought anything at. But I would if the selection and sizes were better.  And Dont say “Why don’t you buy on-line?” I would never buy something that expensive on-line and as my Mom always taught me which I also taught my daughter-“You need to try on every piece of clothes you buy, every brand is different, the sizes on the tag are rarely ever the same”  And I like to shop in person in stores!

I guess I do buy a few things on-line like Jordans & Magazines from Around the World Magazines,  but other than those two things,  I like to shop in stores. Enjoy the trailer for the upcoming Gucci movie.

G-Shock is one of the only watch brands that don’t irritate my wrist, thus I have a grey Krink NYC G-Shock and a dark navy blue G-shock for work.  But Checkity-Check this new CIROC x G-Shock breathalyzer watch out! What fun it would be at a party!  It’s available August 2nd, 2013.

POP Rocks!

What’s Hot for Pop Father’s Day 2013

Mother’s Day is all about making sure that you send or deliver Flowers and maybe eat a bit of brunch and a phone call or two. Father’s day in my household is all about our annual tradition of  Breakfast at IHOP on Kuhio Ave in Waikiki, some presents for my dad and either getting some new kicks or wearing a pair that were just on ICE. Not sure what yo do for Father’s day, but to make it rock, You can’t go wrong with brand new Kicks to give  your father, grandfather, cousin, Neighbor or son.

Jordan 5's -

1.  Streetzblog Recommended Kicks for June 2013:  Any of the newer Lebron’s are a great choice-Super high-tech and the colors are pretty crazy perfect for dads all over the world.  And you can’t go wrong with Retro Jordan’s-this Sunday some nice black/grape 5’s are coming out.  Places to find these Hot Kicks for dad include, Premium Laces NYC,  FlightClubNYC, Eastbay and Mental Kicks.  Or if you’re a gambling kid, take your chances on finding some of these at your local Footlocker, Footaction or Champs.

Jordan 5 n the Black/Grape/Aqua colorway:  This is my favorite pair set to release this Saturday June 15, 2013. Eastbay might be a good place to get them at cost. I tend to like black in most my weekend clothes and especially as the main color of my kicks and I really dig the icey blue soles on these. TIP: If you put a pair of Dr. Scholl’s “Back” or “Knee” insoles in the Jordan 5’s they are great to play in and usually don’t even hurt my feet!

Next up are any of these various colorways of the Lebron 10’s.  They are a little pricey, but they are top of the line in technology and come in so many colors you’re bound to find your dads fav.

There are Seven galleries, 3 take you  from London to  New York and include Clothes for Heroes. The other  4 areas are  DIY themes including: Hardware, Bricolage, Graffiti/Agitprop & Destroy. This looks like so much fun it may render a trip to NYC this Summer to check it out.  You can also see a video on their site that explains the exhibit more in detail. Or you can check out some of the gallery views here.

July 10, 2013-February 16, 2014 Club to Catwalk: London Fashion in the 1980’s-Victoria and Albert Museum-London, England

You still have lots of time to check out this fabulous Fashion Exhibition. It features over 85 designs from the vibrant, bold & extremely influential 1980’s  with clothes from John Galliano,Vivienne Westwood & Workers for Freedom amongst others. Celebrating New Wave, New Romantic and High Camp.  I bet there will be plenty of Neon and I suspect the clothes will look a bit like reading an 80’s version of i-D and The Face magazines. If I were them I would sell “FRANKIE SAYS RELAX” shirts in the gift shops.  I remember I had my own DIY shirt like this, it was an oversized white shirt that I wrote on with a big black magic marker. Here’s a picture of Mary Kate in her newer version of the shirt:

One of the outfits that is confirmed to be at this exhibition was that of Adam Ant. AA is actually coming to Hawaii September 14 for a concert at the Republik, I wouldn’t mind seeing and hearing “Stand and Deliver” here in my hometown.  Better late than never.

How much is too Much?

Say What?

This Sneakerhead named Franalations has 800 pairs of Kicks.  How many shoes does one person need?   It’s just way too out of hand and foot for me to conceptualize. Although I am jealous of all those J’s. I thought 80 pairs was too many and I’m not quite there yet. LMK how many pairs of kicks you think are too many or just right?  Also take a sec to fill out the survey, let’s see how many kicks the Streetzblog reader has.  Should be fun to find out.  I bet it’s around 25 pairs. That’s my guess.  Have a nice Weekend!
