Carmelo M9 x Dave White -Tea For Two-London, England
I was wondering where this year’s fun and exciting Carmelo Anthony Video was just last week. And low and behold, here it is. A bit different from October 2011’s Helicopter jump into the Hudson, but still slick, fun and on point.
I like the 24 Karat Gold Leafe on the stars and the London/NYC Vibe. I just think this may be the first year I pass on the Melo’s. I saw them on-line and wasn’t so sure about them, then went to the store to see them in person. They have a Christmas Ribbon running through holes in the kicks. I seriously don’t get it, I don’t like holes in my shoes and I sure don’t want rubbery Christmas Ribbons holding them together.
I’m hoping they do a Melo M9 Update or The M9.5 minus the holes and ribbons, because the colors are HOT, the marketing is excellent, Melo’s one of my favorite players and last year’s Melo’s were the first Nike’s in years that didn’t hurt my (wide) feet.
Congrats to Melo for breaking the #Knicks franchise record of 30 str8t games with 20+ points. Thanks to Melo for playing against the Nets when I was in NYC and beating them. I was just a tad worried he may not play that day because he hurt is ankle a few days before it. And Carmelo has my vote for MVP for 2013 for his play, the fact that the Knicks are finally winning this year and last, and his excellent shooting..just not this year’s shoes. Good the MVP vote isn’t based on the kicks. What do you think about the Melo 9’s?

- NFL Pro Bowl Gear Tips: If you’re anywhere else around the world, hit up NFL.com and get your NFL Pro Bowl gear early this week, they do sell out quickly and if you want Mediums or smalls in the Jerseys, get on there now, they don’t make many of those so they go even quicker. If you’re going to be on Oahu this week, here’s what I recommend: Buy your gear quick and early on in the week. Check out the Pop Up Shops along Kalakaua or the special quick strike stores at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. If you miss out on these places, next best place is Saturday morning at Ohana Day at Aloha Stadium. Then make sure you hit up the NFL Pro Bowl All-Star Block Party on Saturday Night in Waikiki. There’s a great Pop-Up store at the Diamond Head end of Waikiki and a few various Booths along Kalakaua Ave. BUY early in the evening-Gear is LIMITED. If you’re looking for the real deal player authentic jerseys, don’t even think twice, if you see one buy it on the spot. They don’t make too many of those and they are hard to find even with these tips. And lastly if you’re just looking for some Pro Bowl stuff or presents for your friends, wait until the Monday after the Pro Bowl and head down to the Hilton Hawaiian Village. They usually have a pretty awesome sale, but you take your chances on what’s still left to sell. Have a great Week. Hit me up if you need any more info or advice on Pro Bowl week gear, where to go, what to wear, where to park and any other question you may have. See you on the Streetz of the HI this week!

Studs&Spikes are Everywhere..Well almost..
When I was in NYC in December the biggest trend I noticed the most was the influx of Spikes and then Studs. I had heard from my friend at broke2gear that Spikes were big in Japan back in October, but didn’t quite realize how big they were in NYC. The Shoes had spikes, the jackets had spikes, Pants were spiked, even the newest SnapBacks were either spiked or studded.
I noticed the spikes the most since this was more different from I was used to, the studs I used to have back in the early 80’s but not on my clothes, me and most of my friends had basic black leather bracelets with silver studs and sometimes silver spikes on them. The Gals mostly had the spikes, since it was hard to get into Club 3-D with spikes on your jacket or wrist if you were a guy. They were pretty lethal when the mosh pit got going.
I usually get out of the cab as Astor And Broadway in NYC and walk str8t down the street. The first things I saw were studs and spikes on people’s shoes, then I spotted many shoes in the stores with them on in silver, Gold and copper. Next I saw a couple of jackets on people with long rubbery black spikes and even the FIT museum had Spikes on the Thom Browne Ivy League gear.
that’s what I like about being in Manhattan, I can actually see if something is real or just in the magazines or on a mocked up website. This Trend was real and I’m not sure but it seemed to be peaking and heading to the suburbs since I did see a bunch of sales on lots of the Spiked and Studded Shoes. But since looking around Hawaii a bit this past weekend, I didn’t see much of the trend here, so I know it still has a lot of growth. Even the Girl at Claire’s said she “wasnt selling too many spiked or studded gear and if she did it was to the more progressive group of teen fashionistas”.
So, let’s take a look at some of the fun Spiked and Studded Gear being worn and displayed around the world:
Now Here’s a prime example of lots and lots of silver spikes, I doubt this would play well in Hawaii, but would probably wear quite well in Manhattan. It’s a DERYCK TODD Diamond Dogs Hat. $276 at Patricia Field NYC.
Next up is a pair of Studded STUDmuffin Sweatpants. I kinda’ like these especially the fact that they have pockets. I just can’t tell if there are spikes on the back, I suspect not, that would seem pretty ouchy. But I do like the casual yet Hi-Fashion Street Vibe they give off. I think I could pull these off at an Industrial Dance DJ gig when I spin-out as Sniper Wells-Or I may chicken out, now I don’t own a pair so it doesn’t matter. I do like the fact that they are shorts and could work in HI. I think you can also get these from Patricia Field NYC also, but I think you need to put a special order in, then they make them for you. Hey- Did I mention they have pockets? I digress a bit, but for button down work shirts, I always buy the shirts with the pocket on the left for my iPhone and when I buy shorts I always get them with pockets and this may sound funny, but I need them to be deep pockets or I wont buy them. I had one pair of shorts without pockets that I tried to wear 2x but I locked myself out of my car, forgot my wallet in my back pack and generally couldn’t stay organized. And if the pockets arent deep enough everything spills all over my car and that just Does NOT work for me. Now, Here’s the picture:
Before I hit the studs and of course the Kicks, here’s a couple more intersting spiked Hats. One is a custom New Ear Cap, next is the Bright Yellow Hot Punk Hip Hop hat available here and the other is available on etsy.com
Check these watches out! You can get in on all the studly action in a very low-key way with the Vince Camuto Watches with understanded studs, bet you could even wear one of these babies to work. Show your inner Punk Rock personality without even getting judged wickedly wrong by a new client in the boardroom. Various styles available here:
And finally on to the Kicks!
First off a pair of for Women. If I was female, I would for sure want to rock these! And since I’m not a lady, I would for sure date a women who wore these. Made of Nice Solid strong bright steel, with Silver Zippers and a rich Purple sole. I don’t usually get too excited about women’s Kicks, But I do recommend these spiketacular 1:00AM fashion pieces. Would look nice with a purple accented black dress cut just below the knee with some dangling bright silver skull earrings! Ruthie Davis Stiletto F*&K-Me Pumps $1395 More information available here at Ruthie Davis:
And for Men-Some Classic Docs with silver Spikes on sale for $350 available here now:

FIT & HP!
On my Annual December Trip to NYC, I usually need one day to recuperate and save some money. Shopping in NYC is kind of like Gambling in Vegas for me, In Vegas I have one day where I watch TV and Check out Cris Angel to stay away from the slot machines. In NYC, I need a day to stay away from buying Clothes and Kicks, so I sleep a bit more, relax and check out a museum or two. Since this 5 day series was originally meant to show others, what cool things there are to do in NYC, I need to mention that last year on the “relax” day, I walked from 45 and Madison all the way through Central park to the Museum of Natural History-the Park was clean, smelled great, was relaxing, warm, and I took a lot of great pictures. The museum was cool too, you can see all the different animals and people in the Ben Stiller “Night in the Museum” movies-the museum is just a bit BIG and overwhelming, so save a few hours or more for it.
Now on to this year, First Stop the FIT Museum.
First off, The fashion’s I’m wearing: The Jacket is from shopping the day before at Superdry on Broadway in Soho. I like the camo, the flo orange accents and the Jacket is actually very warm and stood up to the Chicago wind! First time in years I didn’t feel the wind go through my jacket. And like many stores in Soho this was 50% off, so I bought a brand new jacket and a pretty happening black and orange T for less than $100! Note: Everything’s cool about the jacket except the zippers are just a bit confusing-there are 4!, but who cares about something confusing when it looks good!
The Pants are the models own D-Squared very expensive jeans. These were also on sale year’s ago that somehow I rationalized out to buy at the crazy price even on sale. I think I had a $100 bill, a Gift Card, a credit Card and yes, they were 40% off, but any percent off of $695 is pretty crazy. Just shows, I can pretty much rationalize out any kind of clothes or Kicks purchase no matter how whack and out of budget. Yikes! (That’s why this month is no clothes or Shoes month) I can’t wait until Feb 1!
And the shoes! The Shoes! Can you believe it! They were just waiting for my arrival. They match the Jacket perfectly, the fit is super comfortable and for some insane reason the flo orange on the bottoms NEVER get dirty-so, so perfect. And yes, these were on sale-$100 off, then since they were the last pair on display-I received another 15% off and another 10% off with my Bloomingdale’s card. I tell you this year in SOHO every store except Rag & Bone had sales of 40-60% off. It was amazing!
For years I’ve wanted to go to this place. For years I didn’t make it, this year I made it a point to go to it. Overall it was a fun experience although it was a bit strange. Both museums at the FIT school had ZERO people working at them-No one to talk to, No one to greet You, No one to..well do anything. Although, they did have a NO picture policy and the two museums were being patrolled by 4-6 security guards in each museum!! I just found it really weird that there were no workers there.
The first museum was technology over the years. Did you know that the US invented a men’s drip dry SUIT way back in 1959. Well they did! and they have a funny black and white video of a guy sitting in a bath tub sipping a martini or was it coffee?.. smoking a cig then getting out of the tub and heading to work. That was worth the trip-very funny vid. the other piece I really liked was a Pinkish purple A Line Dress from the 60’s with a space ship on it. But since no pix were allowed, I can just tell you it looked great from memory and my iPhone notes.
The second exhibition was the history of Ivy style. This vibe was real similar, lots of guards, no photos allowed and no people to say “Hi” to. But I do have a few more notes on this from my iPhone. Here are the Highlights: The Thomas Browne mannequin was dressed to the 2013 T’s! Totally in the now SPIKES on his shoulders, SPIKES on his pants and SPIKES on his Shoes in a green and pink flannel jacket with boots that went up to his knee-Very Modern, hip and Thom’s version of Ivy. Michael Bastian had some nice light grey jeans, they had some extremely bold striped flannel Jackets from Brooks Brothers from 1928-very big and bold horizontal white and red stripes, and also big bold blue and multi colored stripes-Kind of like A Barnum and Bailey circus get up, but it was what you wore if you were preppy back in the day. And I especially liked the bright orange1919 Princeton reunion Jacket-it was in pristine condition and looked like you could wear it today!
My other iPhone notes from FIT say: “Camera, Glasses, Pill bottle and Watch” I seriously don’t know exacty what that means but I think it was from the last exhibit near the doorway. Sounds fun and I do remember the setting at the table was that..Fun!
So, after seeing the two exhibits I asked one of the guards where the Gift Shop was. He said down the street near the coffee shop. So, in 23% weather I went to check it out. Turned out to be the store where if you were a student at FIT you would shop for your supplies. I bought some Skulled out duct tape for my friends at Nephilim Halls Promotions, a BIG dark blue Graffiti Pen, and a pretty cool fiction book about contemporary NYC and Fashion. The Book is entitled: A Whirlwind Profession by Catherine Miller and It was written in 2010 and I’d recommend it to my blog readers. The Girl in the book is a fashion designer who actually goes to eat at the same Italian restaurant-The Trattoria Dopo Teatro I ate at two days ago from the FIT day. What a cool coincidence. So many restaurants in NY that we both went to the same place and as the book says the food is AWESOME! I also recommend the restaurant!
HP-the Harry Potter Experience
Now this one my daughter really wanted to go to, so since she endured FIT-in a good mood at that. I figured I could take a touristy joint like the Harry Potter dealio. We had walked to FIT from 45th which took about an hour, so to get to HP, we took the subway. it turned out to be pretty fun and only 2 stops to Times Square. We were treated to a guitarist jamming and singing a Bob Seger tune-he actually got tipped pretty well too!
Unlike FIT which was free, the HP experience was $50 for the two of us. I only watched the first two movies so I was a bit out of it. But everyone else there including my daughter were pretty amazed and enthralled by the displays. my favorite part was getting snowed on when we first went in the door. If you’re a Harry Potter Fan this is a must see, if you aren’t you can probably pass on it. No roller coaster rides like in England’s underground museums, no interactivity, just a TON of props, wands, clothes, and gear from the movie. It was OK, I would have liked it better if it was a “Fast and The Furious” Exhibition. I’ve seen all those movies at least 3 times each. And Fast and the Furious-Tokyo Drift I’ve seen 8 times. But, if you do like HP you will like this “experience”.
Next blog will be Day 5, the fifth and final day of DEC NYC 2012! Talk to you then.
50 Shades of Grey Search for Star Heats up!
The Search is on to see who will get the coveted role of Anastasia Steele in the movies from the 50 Shades of Grey Trilogy. Whoever gets the gig is set for at least 3 movies and probably 4 since most of these 3 book sequels make more than 3 movies. A Great pay-day for some lucky starlet and probably lots of sex with the male co-star. Some of these names come from the Gossip mags and some I just think would work well. I only read the first book and about 12 pages of the second. But no matter how the movie comes out, I’m sure it will be a Big hit, so whoever gets the part will be set for life. Let’s try the grey styled Poll and see who you think should play Anastasia Steele? Fill in the Poll or leave a comment or two, maybe you have someone else in mind or let us know who you think should play Mr. Grey? Let’s see if we can guess it right before they let the whips and Chains out of the Black Sex Shop Bag.
Actor Jude seen Boogie Boarding on Maui on New Year’s Eve. Check out his squinty eyed excitement as he catches the wave in the picture above.
I get a bit confused between the Actor on the TV show “Elementary” (Johnny Lee Miller) and the actor on the movie Sherlock Holmes (Jude Law). So, I was looking for all the tattoos Johnny has on Elementary and realized this is the actor from the movie with Robert Downing Jr. not the actor TV show with Lucy Liu.
Jude was on Maui Boogie Boarding or as many now call it Body Boarding with his son Rudy. Looks like they had fun, glad he caught a wave, the ocean looks pretty calm in the picture below:
And in “It’s all relative to where you live News” Here’s a picture of my friend KC from Power 104.3 wearing his winter garb in Hawaii where it is presently 73% outside. When I left Chicago this past Sunday (12/30/12) it was what I would call cold at a mere 17%. I guess the weather is like a big screen TV, I think a big one is 40 inches, while others think that 50 inches is too small and they need to upgrade to a 72 Inch TV. Cold in Hawaii seems to be anything 70% and under. Too funny!
What do you consider COLD where you Live?
